Eyes in the Sky

Lovely apartment with stunning 360-degree balcony views. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was thoughtfully provided, two bathrooms, comfortable beds, and immaculate cleanliness throughout. The host's welcoming touch of complimentary biscuits was a delightful detail :) Being slightly outside the city was an advantage rather than a drawback, as the rooftop has some really breathtaking 360 views. We'd definitely return and would recommend this to others.

Upon arrival, we found the key retrieval process a bit unclear, as we only had the locker number and had to figure out the apartment entrance on our own. The host is quick and responsive so it was fixed. The electrical system has limited capacity, which we discovered when using the kettle and hairdryer simultaneously and caused a power outage. It was pretty uncomfortable to get ready in complete darkness at 4 am. Unfortunately, there wasn't hands-on support available to restore it, we were only given the meter location. The gate requires some patience to operate, and be careful with the car parking space, it is tricky to park and it's quite tight if you have a big car. No coffee or tea available.

Parking is very tricky, so drivers should be experienced.

We stayed here for three weeks in February 2026 and liked everything about it. Jose and his family are absolutely terrific, kind and helpful in every way. We were greeted by Jose at entry and the apartment was spotless. The view from the sitting area is cosy but absolutely spectacular. It is the perfect coffee, beer and wine spot. There is a grocery store very close by, it is very well equipped, reasonable and the staff are extremely helpful. We often walked down into Funchal old town which was, approximately 50 minutes downhill (caution re tight roads and traffic), the bus ride back up the hill to home base is also very easy and the public transportation is very reliable, frequent and prompt. The parking is perfect, the vehicle is very well protected, and once you back into the parking spot once, you'll have it nailed. There is a very nice pizza place Mauro Pizza that is about a 15 min walk downhill and the bus ride back is also easy. Having a rental car and using this location is absolutely perfect. Access to main roads to various parts of the island is very close and simple. If we decide to visit Madeira again, this will absolutely be a location that we will try and rebook. Very nice view, owner very helpful. Store very close and good equipped place. Very big apartment - specious. Good for 4 people.

Very far from everywhere if you don’t have a car.Parking a bit tricky but possible ( due to traffic and access through a gate). Apartment quite humid. Attic apartment needs to watch a head. Access to apartment has many stairs, if you have more bags or heavy bags can be hard for older people. No BBQ as mentioned in description, Check in is late ( 4 pm is quite late ) and check out is early (9 am ) …
