I would definitely recommend this place!

Our stay at the Cavalier Oceanfront was absolutely wonderful — we loved every minute of it! This trip was a surprise getaway for my boyfriend, and the hotel staff went above and beyond to help me with all my special requests. Their kindness and attention to detail made the experience feel truly special, and the complimentary bottle of champagne was such a thoughtful and lovely touch. The hotel is also incredibly dog-friendly, which meant so much to us. Our Border Collie had the best time and was thrilled to meet other furry friends during our stay. The view from the porch was simply spectacular — peaceful, beautiful, and the perfect place to relax and enjoy the ocean atmosphere. This stay was worth every penny, and we are already looking forward to coming back!

The hotel is not brand new and could use a little updating in some areas, but honestly, it did not affect our experience at all. We were totally amazed by the atmosphere, service, and overall charm of the place. Having breakfast included would have been a nice extra, but it definitely wasn’t a downside for us.

Nice location, lousy value.

Oceanfront in San Simeon

We were sold a Premium King that was supposed to be oceanfront. It wasn’t. It had a partial ocean view if you sat in the front corner of the room. Through the trees is the water treatment plant. This room should be sold as a partial ocean view for a much lower rate. The room had a huge soaking tub, but lacked the water pressure to fill it. Plus, the tub drain had a defective seal so the water leaked out. The room also smelled smoky all the time even though we didn’t use the fireplace. All in all, at $400 a night I would not stay again.

clean, comfortable hotel just a short hop from Hearst Castle

The hotel was great for our purpose - it's only a few minutes away from Hearst Castle and was clean and comfortable. I loved the fact that they lit bonfires for use by the guests at sunset - was great to sip a drink on the beach, listening to the waves and feeling the warmth of the fire

The view can not be beat. We loved hearing the sound of the crashing waves. The location is what you are staying here for.

The hotel is run down. They make cheap renovations. For instance the chairs are covered with cheap covers, instead of just buying a few new chairs. Towels are scratchy. Tip is you stay, you have to request housekeeping days in advance. They did not tell us this. We never had housekeeping in the 3 days we were there.

Very disappointed. It certainly wasn’t worth what we paid.

The view from our room was amazing.

We had ants lots of ants. We had flies and to go find a fly swatter. There was also a dead rat just down from our door. The room smelled VERY strong like campfire. We did have a fireplace but have never had this happen at other hotels. The pictures were after we tried cleaning the ants up.

I wouldn't call this a resort. It's an old, outdated, but safe motel like hotel, in prime location.

Alone but not lonely.

No need to cross the street. Access to the beach was good. Enjoyed the evening fireplaces (3). The restaurant offered reasonably priced items, which were in large portions.

My room was nearest the office. The stairs going to the second floor was situated in line with my front door. Couldn't leave the window open. Room dated. No microwave.

We loved the location, the view from our balcony. Lovely sunset viewing from balcony or seats around the property. The beach was nice for beach combing and relaxing. The room had everything we needed and was clean. There were nice robes and fresh clean linens. Staff was friendly and welcoming.

We had almost no functioning WiFi while we were in our room and the TV reception was poor from our room. We were told that the WiFi issue is unusual but it persisted for the two days we were there. Because of WiFi issue we couldn’t order room service first night, which we really wanted to do (could not open QR code). Hard copy of menu might have helped.

A very enjoyable place to stay in San Simeon. Will book again

The room was spacious, clean, and had a beautiful view of the ocean. There was a large balcony with chairs and a table for a comfy place to enjoy the view as well. The bathroom was also very large and well-appointed with nice toiletries. The staff were very attentive and friendly. On the grounds were 3 or 4 fire pits that were lit at sunset and guests gathered to enjoy a warm place to enjoy the view and meet new friends. It was really fun. The weather was a bit blustery and chilly, but we came North from the heat of L.A., so it was a welcome change, Remember to pack lots of warm clothes, even in the height of summer!

It was really nice. I would only recommend an update to the restaurant, but It wasn't a "dislike" just, I think some people would complain due to cost vs other restaurants.

Older property so don’t expect new! Had a huge glob of hair in our shower, it took a bit of back and forth but management took care of the issue and comp’ed us some stuff which was appreciated.

Stayed in the older part of property, little dated. Carpet needed a good cleaning or replacement. Picture on TV was really grainy..no big deal. Didn’t really care about people outside constantly walking by the room.

It was a pleasant and peaceful stay at your hotel. Our family liked it.

We loved the location of the hotel and how it has many different items for the kids to play with! Plus we loved making s’mores together as a family right out on the beach!

The pillows were a bit tough to sleep on! Hard and older pillows. The rooms were clean ish but not fancy with cute little decor like towels folded a certain way. Could have added a bit more flair to the entrance and ambiance of the room.
