The previous guest threw their drug syringe on the ground of the private patio attached to my room. The cleaning staff never cleaned it up. While eating breakfast with my 2 year old son, I spotted it luckily before he did. I reported it to the staff expecting it to be cleaned up immediately. I came back in the evening and it was still there, even though the cleaning staff cleaned the room. Seems like the cleaning staff only clean the room, but not the patio. So if guests are doing drugs on the patio and drop something, your child will be in extreme danger, like mine. I reported it again to the hotel staff in the evening, but this time I was furious. They said the cleaning staff would come immediately but they didn't. I called again and asked why the delay - they said "they must be busy with other guests". What could be more important than removing drugs from a room where a toddler is staying. The staff there were like robots - repeating "I apologize for the inconvenience" like a broken record. My child could have died or got seriously injured. Naturally, I packed everything up that evening and got out of there immediately. When I got home, I also filed a police report warning that a child is going to die in that hotel if drastic changes are not made to their cleaning policy, and prohibiting the usage of drugs in their hotel. This place looks so nice on photos, but don't let that fool you like it did me.
The used syringe on the ground - which put my child's life at risk.

It's an elegant hotel in some ways -- lobby, grounds, rooms, the 11th-floor bar and dining room. The location is good -- 1/2 mile from the beach, a bit off the main drag but quiet, walkable. The gym was nice. The staff were friendly.
The various fees really inflated the cost of staying there ... I wasn't told about the $45/day parking fee, and the 'resort fee' of $30/day (credited toward paying for things on site, eg eating in the restaurant) was also a surprise. Clearly a strategy to get people to eat at the hotel restaurant, which fortunately is very nice, gorgeous view, but expensive. The room entrance, from an outdoor concrete balcony, had a slightly motel feel, even on the 5th floor, but I think that's just the old building stock in this part of Cali. It's kind of a regional character element, maybe slightly charming. I enjoyed staying there but I wouldn't go again.

The rooms need a deep clean I noticed the basic things like the fridge is dirty and so were the room phones greasy it should be spotless for that price … one of the staff members was really nice the guy who took our luggage upstairs we did not catch his name but he really made us feel welcomed unlike the front desk girl she definitely does not like working there. Its really pretty inside but the rooms need some upgrades and a deep clean is my overall take.
The front girl at the desk was not so welcoming when arriving and the cleanliness to the room really lacked its need a remodel some of the things inside the room are super old you can tell they dont maintain that hotel as good as it should be for the price they charge

Location, vibe, parking, cute rooftop bar, large balcony
The shower did not drain well at all. It was pretty gross to stand in basically all of our shower water after being at the beach.. when it finally all drained later on the shower floor looked gross
5.0 / 10.0
The location and the distance to the beach.
The vent fan in the bathroom did not work; I had to open the window and door to air it out.

My issue was the front desk asking for a deposit for incidentals which we knew nothing about then asking if we drove and would we need a parking pass instead of disclosing there would be a parking pass fee, she did not and at the ens of the stay we were charged $45 which i am not happy about because had she told us there would be a $45 fee to park for one night we would have parked up the street.
Hidden fees not disclosed up front.

The location is excellent - not too far from the airport and easy access to beaches and La Jolla. The lobby and outside patio/bar/pool area are very cool and perfectly California chic. The room was very comfortable. The ocean view was amazing.
Probably due to the fact that hotel room doors are all exterior doors, we would get smoke smells wafting into the room periodically. The bathroom is getting to the point where it needs to be updated again or regrouted around the shower.

Location, room, balcony, staff
Cleaning lady did not good job: clumps of hair and cut nails were lying around in the bathroom and bedroom when we arrived and never cleaned. dust was not wiped off everywhere. Expensive parking. First floor bar needs to be open all the time. Upper floor restaurant overpriced. Elevator is a shame!

We booked a package with breakfast included, but there’s no buffet—just a $25 credit per person, which doesn’t cover much. A reasonable breakfast for two came to $150 !!!
Also, only one 500ml water bottle per person is complimentary, which feels stingy for the price point. The nightly rate is comparable to 5-star hotels in places like Dubai Marina, but the value doesn’t match.
For the rate, I was hoping a room with ocean view but we’ve been hosted at second level with trees in front of the balcony.
Elevators not working so no room service including water or any other requests. One could go to the front desk and help themselves though! They’re very understaffed, for a 10 stories hotel, they seem to have a handful of people. Front desk does the room service as well and manages the building too!
The least of our concern, their 80 degrees swimming pools is only 3 feet depth so good luck even walking around in it.

Our room was newly renovated and sparkly clean. Although it was only on the fourth floor, the view was still amazing. Beds were super cozy. The elevators are currently being renovated and the wait is a little longer than usual, but manageable. Our incredible experience here was rounded out by friendly and helpful staff!

I liked the room, the furniture, the bathroom, and the television operation. I also thought the staff was friendly and authentic.
I didn't like that I was surprised with a mandatory $30 voucher for breakfast that was not advertised. The breakfast was good though, so maybe it was okay.

Staff were friendly and helpful, from front desk to restaurant. Convenient to grab gas or coffee at Starbucks right next door. Free bikes to borrow. 10 minute walk to beach.
One elevator out of service due to renovation.

1) Great location, about 10-12 mins from the beach and 7-8 min walk to La Jolla strip of cafes/restaurants, easy access to key roads and the highway,
2) They offer a pleasant Sea & Sky restaurant on the 11th floor with great views of the surrounding area.
3) The waiting staff at breakfast were very friendly and helpful.
3) The room was comfortable with a nice large sized bed, a well-functioning A/C
1) Housekeeping were simply not up to the task with the bathroom barely cleaned while we were there,
2) The disadvantage of the location is that you do hear traffic sounds as you're so close to a busy intersection,
3) Parts of the hotel need an upgrade, e.g., one of the two the lifts (elevators) was always on the blink,
4) The staff in the restaurant were pleasant and helpful, but the same cannot be said of others, especially the team at reception where service was patchy and many seemed relatively indifferent to their clients (e.g., we were not even asked how our stay was when checking out - they didn't seem to care!)
5) If you arrive late, i.e., after 9pm, be aware that there is no room service or housekeeping and, in fact, most of the restaurants around the area are closed. You would think the hotel would attempt to give guests some basic meal options.
6) For the prices charged, the quality of service and facilities overall simply do not stack up.

Location
The room did not have enough blankets on the bed. The room was dark. The room did not have a working keurig coffee maker. Ever time I turned the coffee pot on the lights would go out in the room. Hair dyer broken.
There was no information in the room about the hotel or the near by area.
The balcony was dusty and dirty.
No hot tub!
Not streaming service. No food service.
Just a semi decent room.
Great location.

I booked two rooms for the ocean view. However, we cannot see the ocean at all, that’s so funny, we only saw very small part of ocean through the gaps between trees. The location is not that close to ocean as well, the only thing I like is there’s a Starbucks next to the hotel. If you insist calling this is “ocean view”, that’s totally ok lol.

The front desk staff were especially accommodating and welcoming. Eric? Very helpful. There was a barman, Oscar I think who was also very kind and welcoming out by the pool.
I was surprised to receive charges for a resort fee of $25 and a parking fee I was not aware of before I booked my room. Those two charges increase the per night room rate to a level higher than I would have liked to have paid.

The rooms are comfortable and calm if you are on the ocean view.
Staff is not very friendly, it seems they were not hospitality-trained. Rooms are very old fashioned. There is no fridge in the room. They do not have buffet breakfast and the prices per meal are expensive. I paid 400 dollars per night for very poor service.
