This was our 2nd trip back and we stayed in the Mimosa room this time. It was so cute and comfortable it was a little hot but the extra fan helped keep the whole room cool. Even though we stayed on a Monday and many of the shops and restaurants were closed it actually made it more relaxing . As a local writer is a perfect place to get some writing done away from home. Both the bed and breakfast and the wine bar were great spots to work

We stayed in the Old Fashion room for two nights. The Peninsula is an absolutely gorgeous historical hotel. The claw foot bathtub was the biggest reason I chose this room. The colors of the rooms are so different and vibrant to match their “cocktail”. Close to restaurants shops and the water. Gulfport is still recovering from the hurricanes and a lot of places and neighborhoods are under construction. We chose the Penninsula because the hotels we liked in St Pete beach are still closed or not reopening. It’s about 10-15 minutes to St Pete beach Maderia beach and treasure island. Free parking is a plus in such a tiny town and I didn’t have to move my car all weekend- we took advantage of the walkability of Gulfport. The hotel has a cute bar that’s opens on the weekends and fits the hotels motifs. There is no staff on property and there are no room keys. The key pad was awesome both to get in the hotel and into the room - one less thing to worry about when leaving the room. The hotel and rooms are very clean and bed was super comfortable. The only thing is that you can’t tinker with the thermostat - it is set at 72 and can not go lower, but the do have fans for the rooms which really helps. The old fashion room is on the top floor - no elevator so be mindful of your luggage and did get a little stuffy but we were able to snag a fan. Even though it rained most of our stay- the room was perfectly cozy for a rainy day to read a book. There are only a few spots to eat - a lot of bar restaurants wine bars and breweries. It is slightly limited if you are with picky people- but the pizza place down the street had amazing pizza that we were able to take back to the room during one of the summer storms. We loved it so much we already booked a different room to stay in in a few weeks!
