Very Nice Room, Very Good Location, Friendly & Helpful Staff, Well Maintained

Our stay at Aston Kona by the Sea was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our condo was clean and modern, beds comfortable, layout of room was nice, the balcony was private, spacious and very comfortable. The location was good and easy quick access to Kailua downtown area. The beach area was very nice with a really nice view and comfortable chairs and loungers. The ability to borrow beach chairs was nice also. Having towels to take to the beach was good. We liked the keyless entry and security (used a code). The pool areas was nice, we didn't use it much and the BBQ grills and area to cook in looked very nice, clean and modern. Everything was well maintained. Would strongly consider staying here again on our next visit to the Big Island.

A bit pricey, but not outrageous. Would like to have more loungers with umbrellas available since we like to be able to limit our direct sun exposure at times. That said, We didn't have too much of a problem eventually getting a lounger and umbrella area.

Quiet Comfy Escape

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The furniture was comfortable and loved the sandy area under the palms. Very quiet and covered parking.

I wish there had been more dining options to walk to. A better selection of snacks and some drinks on site would have been nice.

the view was perfect. We were right on the ocean with a beautiful lanai where we had breakfast every morning. The condo was well equipped and very comfortable This is our second visit and we will be back. In fact this is the only place we would consider staying in Kona!

Luxurious comfort with an amazing pool and fab apartment

We loved how big and comfy the unit was. Felt like we were living in our own apartment. Super comfy bed. Clean. Had a stocked kitchen with tools and crockery and pots etc. Loved the balcony and seeing the pool and sea. LOVED the big pool. And the peaceful place to rest beside the pool in the nice loungers. We will be back. And great location. Not too far from town but not too close. We were here for my Ironman race and it was the best place to relax and prepare for the race.

The view was absolutely spectacular! We loved being right on the water and hearing the sound of the waves from our room. The bed was comfortable, and the area was really quiet and peaceful at night. The room was clean despite it being old and there was lots of storage in the bathrooms. The kitchen had all the tools you would need, plus a newer and very clean fridge. The pool and beach area were lovely and kept very clean by the staff.

Our room was very dated, including a disintegrating ottoman in the living room. You could not turn on the bathroom lights without the fans running extremely loud. . We were charged a $25 amenity fee - we are still not sure what this was to cover. There was no beach towel service, no gym, no service at all on site. We had to wash our own towels and we had to ask each day for a packet of coffee. There was no housekeeping, no amenities on the property- no gym, no where to buy a coffee, and to add insult to injury a $129 cleaning fee. We usually go to Maui where we receive purified water in the room, plus a week’s worth of coffee and other kitchen staples, as well as daily pool/beach towel service.

Fantastic view, better than expected accomodations.

Great condo. This ocean front unit (207) had a comfortable bed, well appointed kitchen, spacious living area with comfortable seating and a GREAT view of the pool and ocean. We loved the 2nd full bathroom and the A/C worked well.

As with most any rentals, the bathrooms and kitchen could use a little updating. But there was absolutely nothing wrong with the unit.

Great location ,quiet, not a big resort but very pleasant

Location and view

When I checked in, my original reservation (oceanfront 2 bedroom ) was not available. It was only when I showed the office staff the reservation that clearly stated “oceanfront”, not ocean view did the staff realize the error. There wasn’t a 2 bedroom oceanfront available at first but somehow one became available after I showed them the original reservation. Then the staff was very accommodating and showed us 2 bedroom option and well as two 1-bedroom options. We ended up opting for two 1-bedroom option. We ended up enjoying our stay and space but check in process was rocky.

Amazing and comfortable stay! Totally recommend.

The apartment we stayed at was incredible and had an amazing view! It was very clean and had everything we needed, including a washer and a dryer. The fridge was very spacious and both the bed and the sofa were really comfortable. We had a great time in the swimming pool as well, which was also very clean and well taken care of. The fact there is parking included was a huge plus for us! The staff was very friendly and accommodated our request, as well as gave us a bottle of wine to celebrate our honeymoon - the reason we travelled there.

There were no shops nearby, so we always had to drive to go grocery shopping. Not a problem for us, as we rented a car, but for someone without a car it can be a bit inconvenient.

The condo was very spacious and the view was amazing!! You cannot get more oceanfront than this condo...the ocean is right there!

Beautiful location, but our room was dated.

The best thing about this property was our true ocean front room. We could hear the waves when the windows or sliding glass door was open. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The room was clean as was the lanai and all the common areas of the property.

Our room was dated, and I did not like that it had carpeting (vs laminate or tile or wood) in the main living area---this is a beach front property.

This is not an "oceanfront" room, it's barely an "Oceanview" room.

The staff were very friendly with the exception of the last day. The housekeeper did not leave us enough pool towels for the 5 guests we had so we went to the front desk and told the lady we only got 4 towels and had 5 guests and she acted as though we were lying. She asked us our room number and how many guests we had and told us there were only 4 people in that room and then proceeded to pull out the paperwork to verify that we in fact had 5 guests before we could get another towel. The checkin process was easy. The location was good for the activities we had planned.

Wish it would have been more thoroughly cleaned. There were dirty wash rags, one on the patio chair and one in a dresser drawer, when we arrived. Also an old bar of soap in the shower. The conditioner, which is mounted to the wall was empty for the first 2 days, it is a nice brand so day three I left it on the bathroom counter in hopes it would get filled. My biggest issue is that it is listed as ocean front and the pictures that go with this listing show side windows. This is not the unit you get. Basically all but about 4 of the units in this building are considered ocean front. Had I known that I could have booked a similar room somewhere else for less, that is called "Oceanview" because that would be a more accurate statement. Our view from our balcony was a small bit of an inlet looking at the land and houses on the other side. Not what I paid over 3k for. You can stay in an ocean view room at one of the larger hotel/resorts with more amenities for less. Too late to change it now but hopefully this information will help someone else make a better choice. You can get a much better Oceanview pretty much anywhere else. The images with my review are from my living room in my "oceanfront" unit. And the side of the building that actually is ocean front, that shows the windows that are included in the listing for this unit, which were not in my unit. In order to use the binoculars that we brought to hopefully do some whale watching, the five of us had to cram into the little corner of the balcony to try and get the best Oceanview we could in our oceanfront room.

Has everything you need for a Hawaii hotel without being at a resort. We stayed here during our trip to get married and it felt “fancy” enough to make this a memorable stay that we enjoyed. Parking was super slick! We always found a nice spot under the hotel.

This was a once in a lifetime visit; the ocean views are amazing. Comfort and value second to none.

The location is perfect, staff is courteous and helpful. The room is not a hotel room but a small apartment, with an amazing view. I don't think you can get closer to the seashore. Facilities are well kept and comfortable. Tess and the others do offer outstanding service. Will likely visit again.

The condo was OK, but I wouldn’t stay there again.

- We liked the view, but of course that’s because we paid extra for an oceanfront room. - The condo was spacious, the living room furniture was OK. - It was quiet and we appreciated that the pool area was quiet at 10 pm. - Was nice having 2 bedrooms. - Parking was good.

It was very dated and dark. The public areas were also very dated - hallways, etc. We hated having to use an (long) access code every time we used the elevator, came in from an outside door, went to the pool, etc., vs. just having a key card.

It was a lovely short stay next to the sound of the sea waves breaking on shore. It was so calming.

I loved the spacious room accommodations and how quickly we received room service and/or amenities. The room was situated conveniently to the elevator so we were able to go back and forth to our car in a jiffy.

The pool was being renovated so were not able to enjoy swimming in their pool. No restaurant or gift shop in the their lobby or common area.

Good family accommodation.

We had a room next to lifts. The room was very noisy. When we asked to move the reception staff were very helpful and happy to let us move. Lovely outlook over pool and ocean. Very family friendly.

Bedroom didn't have good windows, had louvers. The road etc noise was a bit loud. Replacing with double glazed windows would make a huge difference.

Poor value for money

It was 2km to edge of town, which for me as a walker was fine. Good kitchen equipment

Really expensive given no real facilities. Pool was closed and noisy as being refurbished , left dust on the balcony so couldn’t even enjoy that. No real chance to enjoy the place. The price should have been a lot lower.

Beautiful view, but very outdated and musty condo - not worth the price!

The location, view, and size of the condo was amazing. Very spacious layout and big balcony! The beds were comfortable and they upgraded us to a 2 bedroom instead of a 1 bedroom suite we booked.

The condo unit we got was very outdated, smelled musty, and there was a lot of corrosion on the ceiling fans, outlets were rusty, and the kitchen counter was dirty. There was also a ton of dust/mildew on the louvered doors. Bathroom was small/tight. The musty smell was honestly very overwhelming and made me not want to be in the condo much. The carpet needs to be removed (an oceanfront condo just shouldn't have carpet), ceiling fans and outlet covers should be replaced, and a thorough deep cleaning is needed. Maybe other condo units are better maintained.

Perfect stay in Kona area, close to everywhere

The manager helped upgrade our room to be ocean view with 2 room suite and it was awesome experience!! They also provided free detergent which was very helpful as it was raining most of the time during our trip and we were looking for a laundry service but got a full schedule on taking tours, didn't really got time to dealing with our clothes. Wish I had spent a whole week staying in this accommodation and just relaxing on the private beach and pool along the building

Everything is convenient and clean in the hotel, would probably not want to go outside 😆
