Okay for a night if the budget is tight.

For the price, all the necessary amenities were provided - towels, AC, complimentary coffee, etc. Check-in was smooth, the staff was easy going and helpful, they asked and took into account our preferences about the room. The room was a pretty modern one.

This property is a motel, so we felt a little annoyed that it was marketed as a hotel while it is clearly a motel facing a highway (noisy). At first the room looked ok, but it actually was quite dirty - hair everywhere, trash on the floor, stains on the bedsheets. All the appliances were visually damaged, we didn't use them so not sure if they worked or no.

Pretty good location, either short drive or a little bit of a walk to downtown Carlsbad. Was clean comfortable. Laundry machines were accessible all night, along with vending machines. Good deal for the price.

Had small selection of TV channels. Small space for hanging a garment bag. Steam from a nice hot shower would set off the smoke detector.

Formal complaint regarding stay at Hyland Inn on 08/10/2025-08/11/2025, Booking 5110514352 To whom it may concern Dear: Property Manager / Customer Relations Team, I am writing to formally complain about my recent stay at Hyland inn from 08/102025- 08/11/2025 to , under booking reference 5110514352. The experience was severely below the standard I expected and caused significant distress to my family. My issues were that I took the time to physically come to the property to informed your morning agent that I would not be present at the standard check-in time of 3:00 PM and that my elderly mother would need access to the room, I asked her what was needed to give my mother the access. I was advised by the front desk agent to provide my mother with a copy of my ID; this guidance was not only incorrect but also unsafe given her age. As a result, my mother spent approximately seven hours waiting in a hot car, without access to bathroom facilities or basic comfort, which is unacceptable. Upon my return from a nearby activity, I requested permission to charge my phone so I could manage my arrangements, but staff did not assist with this. The lack of a working phone in the room created ongoing difficulty in contacting staff for essential needs. I was not clearly informed of the property’s payment/credit policies, it did NOT state credit card ONLY and I encountered delays and confusion during my attempts to settle the matter. The room was not clean upon arrival. There was hair in the tub, and dirty surfaces on the bath room door, and other unsanitary conditions. I also observed signs of pests (mice) in the room, which is both unsafe and unacceptable, especially for a child which my son has to witness. There was no phone in the room, and I had to repeatedly visit the front desk to request basic items (washcloths). The staff had only two washcloths available and could not fulfill basic housekeeping requests in a timely manner.

Too loud and not clear. Not worth the price, when I check the name is “XX’inn”I thought it is a “hotel inn”. It cost me $ 200 box/ night, when I arrived it’s a motel. I got to the front desk, whole room smells “curry “. When I walk to my room it’s a big cockroach come through. The upstairs room when they walked,the downstairs will hearing very loudly, especially in the middle night. The nearest holiday inn just $ 278/ night. I think it’s no worth the cost. Be careful when you booking, understand it’s a motel not a hotel!!!!

For location and price not bad . Great breakfast up the street

I didn't see any breakfast. There were vending machines. My room did have a fridge, microwave, a blow dryer, a very cool mirror with light settings on it. A coffee pot that we thought was broken so we took it to the office and he said give it time to cool off and it'll work. It did but wasn't great . I don't drink alcohol and love coffee so I enjoy rooms with coffee makers. This was a 1 night stay, close to beach , a great breakfast spot with baked goods called village kitchen and pie shop. The pillows are comfortable, wish there were 4 instead of 3 though. Overall not bad for a short stay. I'd stay again and just ask for more towels and an extra pillow maybe. Place was clean and pretty quiet

No wash cloths, only 2 towels so we could use more of those and probably could've if we asked. The pillows are comfy but there were 3 not 4 . If you're a 2 pillow sleeper one of you will be on one lol but.. again not bad for a short stay. Keep the door in the bathroom shut off you take hot showers .

Absolutely nothing worst hotel ever

There were roaches and the ac wasn’t working properly. I’m pretty sure the hotels cleaners are told you turn the ac down when they’re cleaning the rooms so when you come back to your room it’s extremely hot. They say these rooms are remodeled but they are still horrible I can only imagine how they were before. The refrigerator and microwave look so old and used. The staff aren’t helpful. Do not recommend this hotel

Underwhelming and not in line with the reviews

Location was great

Parking was awful, so many tiny spots. Also the Bed was dirty when we checked in. It was made up like it was clean but when pulling back the covers there were hairs all over it and crumbs in the bed. There was a dirty unfolded towel underneath the sink. Lastly when checking in we were charged a 20 dollar early check in fee despite telling me 10 dollars over the phone and the listing stating that early check in was covered.

Bargain bin room- some good, some bad

Location is great, bed was pretty comfy, the room was very spacious, they fixed the AC

The TV was damaged, so it only kind of worked, they had to come fix our AC after it was out for the first day and night, they forgot we were staying until Sunday and locked us out of our room on Saturday, "because so many others were leaving, it must have gotten mixed in"... we got a total of 1 apology for all of the above (All separate times I had to go to the office), and that was only when we made them aware of the TV not working, the rest I got, "Ok" when I mentioned the issues. Plus, a few nice dark stains on the chair in the room, needless to say, we didn't touch the chair

Horrible. Wouldn't recommend at all

Nothing staff was rude. Did not accommodate towels and we needed new sheets and they refused but said we could wash the sheets in there on-site washer. After talking with them over and over again and both of my sons they still refused. We wanted our money back and they said you will have to contact booking. Com they were horrible

Everything they were rude once I said you asked us to give you a5 star review but you won't even give us towels or sheets then they said you're black mailing us i said no I'm pointing out the obvious you give 1 star service but want 5 star review. That's like going to a restraunt and dropping a spoon and the servers say we can't get you another spoon.
