sufficiently spacious rooms for exchanging clothes opening my belongings and shower room. Roommates are friendly and they tried to keep clean around our places. I enjoyed to communicate with them. Also I found a nice bagel shop around the hostel. Laundry space is also nice.

Great location, close to subway and Central Park. Rooms are great, staff is amazing. I’ve stayed here multiple times. Bag storage available. Deli located inside hostel.

I stayed at HI New York from 17th–19th September in Room 423, Bed 1, and unfortunately this stay was very disappointing. The hygiene in this wing was unacceptable. The towel provided was smelly, and the restrooms and shower areas were filthy. The AC did not work on the first night. Despite calling at night, nobody came to fix it, and it was only repaired the following night after I complained again. Most concerningly, I found bedbugs in my suitcase after leaving the hostel and subsequently fell sick. While I cannot conclusively link my illness to the hostel, the overall hygiene conditions were extremely concerning. I have no complaints whatsoever about the staff. They were courteous, supportive and consistently went the extra mile to help. I had previously stayed in Room 410, Bed 1 (2nd–8th September), where the room, restrooms and showers were clean and tidy. I strongly request management to urgently inspect this wing, arrange professional pest control, thoroughly deep-clean the rooms and shared facilities, and check the maintenance of the AC units. The contrast between my two stays suggests this may be an issue specific to this wing, and it needs immediate attention.
