Everything was nice

Rooms are nice, grounds are beautiful, local area surrounding hotel is high-end.
The fact that we booked through Booking.com (third party), seemed to cause a few issues. I reserved a room with two double beds, but was given a king room instead. They said they were completely booked, and didn’t receive the request because we didn’t book it directly through them.
I also reserved another room for my mom (using my credit card) with the intent that she would actually pay for it when we arrived. Again, something the people at check-in said they couldn’t do, because we booked with a “third party”.
Lastly, I was given a free bottle in a small bag at check in. My mother asked for one too, but they said they could only provide it to the person who made the reservation!! I couldn’t believe it!
Even the valet guy stopped us from using a luggage cart just sitting in the lobby. Apparently, he is the only one permitted to use it. But, then of course, be ready to tip…
Overall, I’m not sure if all the problems were caused by the “third-party booking”, or the uncooperative staff. Either way, our check-in was disappointing.
