    Pros - Room is clean and's spacious. bed is comfortable. Located in city centre within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Cons - Overnight valet parking $52. Bottled water is not provided. A deposit of $50 per night was charged and was told it would be refunded in 5 business days.

    If you have a fridge in the room you could at least have real creamer for the coffee. A plastic coffee packet with a plastic straw and chemical powders is not something I enjoy. The curtain rod was hanging down and looked like they didn't even care or bother to fix it. There are plenty of open rims so they could have put us in a different one but just don't care

    I have to admit that, for the price, I did not expect much. However, much to my delight, Courtyard by Marriott Portland City Center was better than expected. Despite having a very unassuming exterior, once inside I was warmly greeted by several staff. Check-in was smooth. The lobby is modest yet inviting. Off the check-in counter is a room filled with snacks and drinks for sale. This is a huge plus, considering the hotels location. The hotel is located in the business district with not much within a block or two of the hotel. That was fine for me because it ws very peaceful. Another pleasant surprise was that the elevators needed your room card to operate. Very good for security. Once in my room, I was again pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious and spotless though a tad dated but well maintained. The King bed was extremely comfortable with extra pillows. There is a cabinet with plenty of hangers, a comfortable office chair and desk to work and eat on. Also a comfortable lounge chair to watch TV. The bathroom was also spotless with plenty of plush towels. There is a spacious shower. Plenty of the usual hotel hygiene products. The toilet, though, is a bit awkward being separated from the rest of the bathroom by a pony wall. The hotel restaurant/bar is quite stylish with a full menu of comfort food. Though the food portions were rather large for me, I am sure perfect for most. I only wish the restaurant was open a bit later than 10pm. Perhaps with a limited menu. Overall, the hotel and staff far exceeded my expectations. Definitely recommend for anyone who wants a quite, comfortable, safe place to stay in downtown.
