    The valet staff was rude and dismissive, my car was damaged and the gaslighted me when I wanted someone to investigate. They told me they would get back to me with a call and email within 24hrs and its been 4 days

    Stayed there for a night. For ***+ per night, the hotel presents itself as upper-level, but here’s what I noticed: Horrible service: My pregnant wife called in advance to ask if we could check in early because she might be tired. We were even willing to pay extra. The man on the phone had an attitude, especially the second time she called to confirm that early check-in would be possible. At the reception, we were helped by someone who may have been the same guy—he was equally uninterested in helping us and seemed annoyed by our presence. When we asked for clarification, he just repeated the same vague answers. The check-in process also involved a lot of paperwork. My friend wanted to pay for our parking, and the staff gave him a hard time, saying, “It won’t be possible to pay for parking with a different card on file,” and then eventually allowed it. He sounded condescending during the interaction. When checking out at the parking lot, the attendant was watching a sports game. Nothing wrong with that when there are no clients around, but he only turned it off a few minutes after we started talking—it had been blasting before. The system didn’t show our parking was paid, and they asked for a receipt, which no one told us to keep. Then he had to call to verify the payment and spent time looking for our key. Service sucks. Both check in and check out took a long time even though there were no people before us. Other than that, the lobby is really pretty. My wife had room service—she liked the food, and it came quickly. The furniture in the room is outdated. The carpet was visibly old and dirty.

    Absolutely loved our stay! Room was clean, staff was courteous and helpful, and rooms and amenities were clean and well maintained. Location is perfect for a weekend away in Downtown SD, close walk or uber to restaurants, theatre, and other night life. Our new must-stay hotel when visiting SD.

    The check-in process was efficient, and front desk staff were generally polite and professional ( late afternoon staff on Friday) Valet service was minimal. Upon arrival, no assistance was offered with luggage, and there was no proactive engagement (e.g., offering carts or guidance). Guests should expect to handle unloading and belongings independently, with valet staff primarily facilitating vehicle intake only. The property appears to require updates. While basic cleanliness standards were met, the overall condition of the rooms and facilities feels dated. A late checkout request was submitted in advance and partially accommodated until 12:00 PM. A follow-up request for a 1:00 PM checkout was declined the following morning due to availability. The communication of this decision was direct but lacked standard hospitality elements such as eye contact, acknowledgment, or a courteous explanation. (Saturday morning staff) Due to the overall service experience, we opted not to utilize additional hotel amenities, including breakfast. Across multiple touchpoints—valet, front desk interactions, and general service—staff engagement was limited, with little proactive hospitality or guest-oriented communication observed. Summary: Operationally functional but lacking in service attentiveness and guest engagement. Improvements in staff training around hospitality standards, communication, and proactive assistance would significantly enhance the guest experience.
