I love blue and the hotel is blue theme and right next to the beach less than 300 feet.

I was able to bring my animal which has a backyard attached to the patio and close to a dog beach. My room was quiet and in a peaceful area where I was able to sleep. I was able to be close by to my friend whose grandma passed away.

There wasn't anything I didn't like at this property. The Staff were able to communicate with me during my stay, was able to get housekeeping in a timely manner and my two female boxer labs loved to be with their dad while able to run around when I was able to take them to the dog beach. Great location and Great Vibes.

First called one hour before arrival saying our room not available and then gave us the grossest room there

The price was not worth the stay, we literally had a better be experience at the Hampton for maybe a $10-$20 difference.

It was a 10 minute walk to the beach.

There were ants in the bathroom, the metal piece connecting the flooring from the bathroom and the bathroom sink area was coming up and I stubbed my toe on it, there was a homeless person right outside the gate of the room we were staying in so we couldn’t even enjoy going out on the patio, the beds are literally rocks, the flooring in the room was swelling and coming up, we ended up not even staying there for the last night and ended up going to the Hampton

Close to Dog Beach

The semiprivate patio for dogs. Like minded guests that all appreciate and understand traveling with dogs. Location to Dog Beach, parking in front of the room. Benedict's latte and breakfast burrito made every morning perfect! The rooms were clean and basic, rooms are comfortable, perfect for traveling and staying with active dogs.

Reminder that Ocean Villa is in the flight path and you will hear planes leaving SD airport beginning at 7am.

Horrible and so dirty

The pool was nice but very cold. The location is great. Very close to ocean beach.

This was our 2nd stay at ocean villa. The first one was amazing. Completely opposite of this one. The room was so dirty and smelled horrible. We had dirty sheets, dirty and stained towels, dirty walls, doors, lights, floors. None of the exhaust fans worked. The fridge and microwave smelled and were dirty. I requested a room change but was denied. They delivered a set of sheets for me to change my own bedding. It smelled like wet dog urine in the room. I cleaned the three days I was there. Tried airing it out, tried air fresheners but wasn’t ever able to get the smell out.

Again, I’ve been coming here for 20 years. I think it’s time that it receives some love for some structural and cosmetic issues. It’s definitely worn needs new flooring. Drywall repair shower repair. It needs a good remodel. It’s definitely worn out because the proximity to the ocean.

I traveled from Oregon for a funeral, needed beds for 2 or 3 people. Balcony was enjoyed, food truck

towels and sheets poor quality, had to ask for more towels for 3 people. Run down, this is an old motel, grout and tile in bathroom cracked moldy. No shower mat or m=floor mat so water sits--?? No grab bars in bath . over head fans in room and bathroom filthy-really filthy. Kitchen area had no cups, utensils, dish soap, or paper towels..etc.

Hotel needs to be condemned

Location

Hotel is horrible and should be condemned. Furniture is falling apart, floors need to be redone, you can hear people above you and next to you. The dog run outside stinks of urine.

The room needs updating - everything was very tired and worn. There was no screen on the back door. The shower was really marked-up. My bed had sand in the sheets! It was also very noisy

Very disappointing stay.. Will never come back

It was very disappointing stay, the place is in dark scary area, it is a motel rather than a hotel, my shower did not work till I asked help from front disk who came and manipulated the something then I got water. It was not clean, the room was soo hot and the noisy AC was very old to the degree it did not add any value. They made us pay 16$ for one night stay for Parking!!!

Great friendly staff. Great location and balcony with a view. Although we didn't have a dog with us it was obvious how nice this would be for a dog.

Room 38 had a bit of a sewer smell, mold in the bathroom and the homeless outside the balcony were loud.

Disappointing dingy Beach Hotel that has seen better days

Nice little pool great hair dryer.

The facility is very shabby. The vinyl floor was coming up in spots. There were chips out of the shower stall. The stairs were dirty. The towels were 100 years old, you could see through them, most were dingy gray, one was brown and the bath towels were just big hand towels. There were long black hairs tangled into the towels. The whole place just needs major attention. I think the cleaning crew just works the best with what they have.

Terrible experience!

Property was close to the ocean.

Bed linens were dirty,stained and old. The property could at least furnish clean unstained linen for the beds. Furniture had chipped paint. Walls and baseboards had chipped paint and was dirty. This place needs a complete overhaul. The room I booked was ocean view and that is not what I got. I had to leave the property it was so bad and book at a different hotel. The pictures on booking.com is not what you get when you show up to this property. I’m still waiting for a response from the manager to get a refund what a complete disappointment.

Pleasantly surprised

The staff was friendly. The lobby was closed when we arrived so we were greeted through a window. The clerk was very friendly. Our room was close but the parking available was not due to the late arrival. I did not see an elevator but the stairs are not too bad. Our room was clean and spacious. The fridge was larger than I expected. The amenities are very basic. I immediately checked out the ocean view. Yes you can see the ocean from the room, but dog park view may have been a more accurate description. It was a short walk to the beach so I think the location is amazing! Now, that I have seen the accommodations and location, we will definitely be staying again next time with the pups!!

The place was very clean, but they could use some fresh paint on the walls and new sheets. It was apparent they were washed, but it was unsettling that they had stains. I read the reviews prior to booking, so I was still very pleasantly surprised at how nice it was in spite of that. Honestly, the price and value can't be beat, so I didn't mind.

What the heck is going on?

I love the proximity to the dog beach and Ocean Beach and all the walkable shops been coming here for years

This last time was not as pleasant as normal. The people were not as or the staff I should say seemed very offputting like they were having a bad day. The cleaning crew was amazing. The price has gone up and I’ve stayed for 10 years or more and we came back because the staff was just so amazing this last time they were not that great I don’t understand what’s going on

We loved Benedicts. Ate there every morning. They were dog friendly and served excellent food, packaged so you could eat it there or on the go.

I really appreciated the staff . It was convenient checking in and then later I needed toilet paper because it wasnt restocked upon checking in and an extra pillow and this lady was really kind. I did like the location of the hotel

Great stay as always for our dogs. We go to San Diego for our dogs to swim in the ocean.

It is a hotel on the beach!!! We love this place but can only afford it during off-season. We love that there is a dog washing station and most of all, how extremely pet friendly this hotel is. We wish we could afford the rates during the summer but understand why they charge more during peak season. Great place for dog owners!
