We called and had to cancel our first night knowing that we would not be entitled to a refund. When we arrived the next day our room was not ready?? Did they rent it to someone else?? We had to pay a resort fee for both nights. Why?? Oh well. She was nice about it, and offered us a free breakfast, didn’t eat it.☹️

My stay at La Fiesta Ocean Inn & Suites in St. Augustine was a massive disappointment and a total waste of over $*** for a single night. Despite the fancy name, this property is essentially an ancient, poorly maintained motel masquerading as a resort.
The "Resort Fee" Absurdity:
The most insulting part of the stay was the mandatory $25 "resort fee." Management claims this covers "amenities" like free WiFi—something that is standard and free at almost every budget hotel nowadays. The "free breakfast" included in this fee was equally pathetic: a single bagel with a cheese spread and one glass of canned juice delivered to the room. It is a stretch to call this a meal, let alone a resort-level perk. What’s next? A resort fee for providing bedding and water in the toilet?
Room Quality and Hygiene Failures:
The rooms are in desperate need of a total overhaul and a deep clean. Upon entering, the room smelled bad and was visibly dirty. The bedsheets were soiled and had dark spots on them, leaving me wondering when they were actually last washed.
The state of the amenities was just as poor. The hand wash was only 1/10th full and appeared to be a cheap brand from a dollar store, while the shampoo bottle provided was already half-used. It feels ancient and appears to have never been remodeled or properly maintained. Calling this an "Inn & Suites" is misleading; it is a basic motel with a premium price tag.
Strict Policies, Zero Flexibility:
To top off the poor experience, their service is as rigid as it is lacking. Don't expect even a few minutes of leeway with their 11:00 AM checkout time—you have to be out of the room exactly by 11:00. It is ironic that they enforce "world-class hotel" levels of strictness while providing absolutely zero amenities or comfort to justify it.
Facilities and Value:
While they advertise a heated pool, the water was uncomfortably cold during my visit, making it unusable. To put this into perspective, I recently stayed at the Marriott Fallsview and paid almost the same amount of money for one night, and the difference in quality is staggering. Apart from direct beach access, there is absolutely nothing good about this place.
Conclusion:
I truly regret staying here. Between the subpar breakfast, the soiled linens, the half-used toiletries, the rigid checkout, and the laughable resort fee, I felt completely ripped off. I just wasted $*** for one night. There are far better options in St. Augustine for this price. Save your money and stay somewhere else.
