Elegant, clean, historic, proximity
Due to location it is not the easiest to arrive and depart by vehicle. Front entrance is quite congested but staff manage it as effectively as possible

Good location, wonderful staff.
We knew this place was dated due to the historical nature of it, so we expected it to be cozy sized with small windows, and possibly some other quirks. What we didn’t expect was how run down it felt. Our room had rotted out trim around the tub from water damage, and other more minor damage to the furniture and finishes throughout. Decor was dated (which we knew from photos), but also it was all quite worn (unexpected).
As for some other things that were unexpected (not the staff’s fault; assuming this is procedure), here’s what stood out:
- Valet parking only! If you don’t Valet, you need to park elsewhere in the neighbourhood and walk a block or two to get there! We prefer using Valet anyway, but thought this was good for others to know.
- None of the lights were turned on when we entered the room. That seemed unusual and made for less of a “grand entrance” for our stay, which was a gift to my partner
- The fridge in the room was packed with mini bar items so we couldn’t refrigerate anything
- The food delivery we ordered couldn’t be taken up to the room (expected), but it could also not be dropped off anywhere on the main floor and we had to go down and get it (unexpected)
Overall, nothing really big enough for us to complain about during our stay, but these things would have been good to know before booking.
Staff was lovely, particularly at checkout: the front desk agent, bellhop and valet were wonderful.
