We are pretty easygoing travelers, but the condition of this hotel room was unacceptable. First of all, it does not state in the description that the hotel room is a loft, so the beds are upstairs. It may not be an issue for everyone, but anyone with elderly people or young children need to know this. The condition of the cleanliness of the room was disgusting. I have submitted photos, there was also leftover pepperoni from somebody else on the carpet, leftover food and half a bottle of wine in the fridge. The staff were nice and apologetic about all this, but it shouldn't have happened. The air conditioning does not work, and it was a sauna up in the Loft. If I was on my own I would have driven the 3 hours home in the middle of the night. We would definitely not recommend this hotel.

I rode my bike to Campbell River and along the way stopped at a rest stop and booked this hotel on my phone. I chose it based on price and the pictures. I know Campbell River well and knew the location as the old Austrian Chalet. It was one of the best hotels there back in the day. Although the place is old it is well maintained and I would have to say clean. The desk clerk who checked me in was awesome and took good care of me and my bike. She gave me a room from which I could see the bike if I wanted. Without being asked to do so. Very cool. The veiw from the grounds is outstanding. Right across the road from the beach. Cape Mudge is right there. I used to wake up to its fog horn when I was a boy. The veiw from the upper floors would be even better. The is room to park a rig across the road if you are driving a simi , which I am most of the time. Motorbike this trip. The bistro next door is next level. Excellent service and the food is well prepared and presented. Once again the veiw is outstanding. I would stay here again.
