About this house rental
Welcome to Apé Gedara (`Our House`), a boutique cultural art retreat inspired by Sri Lankan architecture and the creative spirit of Los Angeles. More than a vacation rental, our thoughtfully curated home blends comfort, curated art gallery, story telling and warm hospitality. Sleeps up to 10 guests in four bedrooms with modern amenities. (2 miles LAX), (5 miles SoFi Stadium), minutes to beaches, and top attractions. Apé Gedara is where culture, comfort, and convenience come together.
This is a unique property that maybe a little hard to find for guests. The entrance of the property shares no other neighbors next door. This allows for ample parking along the curbside in front of the house on both sides of the street. The entire yard front and back is enclosed to the public. You and your guests would be completely contained inside the walls of the property. the property is 3,865sqft. It has 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms a study downstairs and a large 400sqft conference room with a 1/2 bathroom and separate entrance. This room is perfect for a work retreats for educational development, software development hackathons and innovation sprints.
Originally a 2 bedroom 1 bath home, the current house was designed and built by Ramesh Perera in 2007, a native Sri Lankan who wanted to incorporate a /meda midula/ (මැද මිදුල), which is a traditional central open-air courtyard in Sri Lankan architecture. It acts as the quiet heart of a home or historic manor (walauwa), letting in natural sunlight and cool breezes while connecting the indoor living spaces with the outdoors. This was achieved on the 2nd floor of the home connecting the bedrooms as a common meeting place for the family and guests.

The conference room may or may not be accessible if you did not include it in your AirBnB package. If the office/conference room is included, there is a small utility closet that is kept locked for storage.
The Living Room Fireplace is not to be used. There is a firepit in the backyard that can be used with real firewood.
We also do not allow the use of candles or any type of fire or flame inside the house.
The BBQ in the backyard kitchen needs to be fully cleaned and degreased after every use and clean with cover on and gas turned off at the shutoff valve below.

The water shutoff is located outside on the North-East corner of the home. Just under the black wooden cabinet that houses the sprinkler valves. Turn the valve perpendicular to the pipe.
Gas Shutoff location :
The gas shut is in the same location as the water shutoff.
Fire Extinguisher location :
1.) There is a fire extinguisher in the bottom cabinet in kitchen under the microwave
2.) Another in the garage under the sink.
3.) Another outside under the BBQ.
