About this house rental
Welcome to Cardinal Lodge, a peaceful, family-friendly mountain retreat tucked into the woods of Massanutten Resort. Located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, our home offers the privacy and cozy mountain atmosphere you’re looking for while keeping you close to all of Massanutten’s year-round activities.
Inside, you’ll find comfortable spaces designed for relaxing and spending time together. The home features 3 bedrooms plus additional sleeping space in the rec room, including two king bedrooms, a bunk room with a full-size bottom bunk, twin upper bunk and twin trundle, plus a queen Murphy bed in the rec room. Multiple living spaces give everyone room to spread out — especially helpful when traveling with kids or multiple families.
One of the highlights of Cardinal Lodge is the outdoor space. Surrounded by mature trees, the expansive deck creates your own private mountain retreat. Start the morning with coffee among the trees, unwind in the hot tub, or gather around the fire pit in the evening. It’s an especially peaceful setting for slowing down after a busy day exploring the mountain.
You’ll be conveniently located within Massanutten Resort, just minutes from skiing, snow tubing, golf, mountain biking, hiking, and the indoor and outdoor water parks. Cardinal Lodge also makes a great home base for exploring the Shenandoah Valley, including Shenandoah National Park, local wineries and breweries, downtown Harrisonburg, and James Madison University.
Whether you’re visiting for a family vacation, JMU weekend, mountain adventure, or a relaxing getaway in the woods, Cardinal Lodge is designed to be a place where you can settle in, have fun, and enjoy time together.

We also have some rules that are mandated and set by the Massanutten POA that each guest MUST follow.
NOISE
• Quiet hours: 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM.
• Keep noise indoors during these hours.
• No excessive noise at any time, as judged by MPOA or its assigned agents.
PARKING
• Keep all tires off the road.
• Don't block fire hydrants or park in front of another property without written approval from your host.
• Park only in designated areas or overflow lot (4007 Peak Dr., Massanutten, VA 22840)
• No buses, campers, or RVs to be parked at homes or on roads. Overflow lot is available with written approval from your host.
OUTDOOR FIRES
• High wildfire risk area!
• No open fires.
• No unattended fires.
• No firepit use during quiet hours (10:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
• Firepits and grills may be restricted during local emergency conditions, check the electronic sign at entrance for updates.
ALCOHOL
No open containers on roads or in common areas.
PETS
• Leash always required when outside.
• Clean up after your pets.
TRASH
• Do not place garbage/trash outside, including screened-in porches, decks or carports. Trash attracts wildlife, which could endanger you and damage the property.
• Dumpsters are located just past 4003 Peak Dr., Massanutten, VA 22840 on the left in the rear of the owner's pool parking lot.
