About this house rental
luxurious renovated traditional two-storey, 175sqm not including a patio and first floor terrace, 70% stone built
very comfortable, peaceful, private
mildest temperatures even during summer heat waves. You can feel the mountain's cool. You can feel the insulation of the 50 cm stone walls
the house is located in the single most beautiful Cretan village, Archanes in the old neighbourhood. Archnes is right next to Heraklion (15km)
the rooms are located around the 2 sides of the Vila's patio. There are no neighbors and thus the house is very private. On the ground floor you will find a spacious traditional kitchen adjacent to the living and dining room. The ground floor also contains a spacious bedroom with two single beds, a smaller bedroom with a single bed and a bathroom. There are also spiral stairs leading to the first floor which is arranged as an autonomous studio containing a master bedroom, a bathroom and a big balcony
Archanes is located at an ideal position at the center of Crete, 10 min from the highway leading to Heraklion and the major beaches in the north or to the southern Crete. You can easily and comfortably reach almost any place in the north, center and southern Crete from here
Archanes is right next to Knossos (10min), the ancient capital of the first European civilization. I guess that this is is what brings you here. And the summer, of course. And the 4500 years of winery, yes. And the mythology. And the renowned mediterranean food
it is definitely worth digging into the history of the place a little bit. It is not a coincidence that Zeus himself was born and finally died around here. Also, Archanes was the vineyard of Knossos. Knossos was the first great ancient capital in Europe. Imagine that they had hot and cold water in every house. It was also the place where the first place where sports were held in an organized manner, that's where the Greek's took the idea from for their own games, that they later held in a place called Olympia and thus the games became known as Olympic games. A lot to hear, a lot to read a lot to enjoy here
