Henhaven Lodge Cosy Cabin in Alnwick

Lovely, well-appointed, clean, comfortable, nice view, really convenient for Alnwick plus local shopping park & Leisure centre. I use crutches or a wheelchair and could get my Pride Jazzy Carbon Ultralight (W620, L950, H100) inside and around. Once I moved the door mat and rug aside, it was completely accessible for me. There's no wet room but there is a walk in shower with a step I could manage. I really appreciated the bread, butter, milk and wine left for me, plus a few other bits I didn't use. I didn't meet the hosts but didn't need them either. The key was in a key safe by the door and I was sent a number so I could let myself in. Other things to note: -The coffee machine is Dolce Gusto. I was left 3 pods but would have needed to buy more for a 4-night stay. They were cheaper in B&M or Poundstretcher but still not worth buying. I had brought filter coffee and a cafetiere just in case. -There's an electric oven (easy) and touch hob (couldn't work out how to switch it on), plus toaster, microwave and dishwasher (easy if you're used to using them) plus under counter fridge with small ice box. -There are also two Amazon Fire TVs (limited apps but still good) and an Amazon Echo Dot (Alexa). -There were no instructions for any of the above. -Shower is rainfall head plus normal hand held. -There were a few things that would be desirable to add but I'll email the host about these. It's clearly been well thought through and nothing important was missing. I managed to do a few microwave/oven meals so nothing special.

Oh my goodness, it was like living in a layby by the A1. (See video.) It looked so peaceful but it really wasn't. I went and bought a speaker from Argos to down out the road noise!! There's no way that I would want to sit outside to enjoy the sunshine - not that there was much. I'm so conflicted over this property as there was so much to love, but I wouldn't go again during the summer. Apart from the noise, there are several other properties on site including the farm house, a couple of static caravans, some cottages that could be holiday homes and some new build houses. As a woman on my own, I didn't feel safe sleeping with the windows open, even if I could have slept with the noise. Also, the bed, which was lovely and comfortable, had a memory foam topper, which was boiling, plus a massive thick duvet. Having just survived five heatwaves, I had come for a 'coolcation' and had come with my own 1 tog duvet. I needed it. So would I stay again? Yes, probably. But definitely when it's colder.
