Furnished in a modern country house style with a Scandinavian touch and featuring excellent, complete amenities, our Knut vacation rental is the perfect getaway for anyone seeking peace and quiet and looking to unwind from everyday life. The vacation rental is wheelchair-accessible and features two separate bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with a single bed), a large, light-filled living room with an adjoining, fully equipped kitchen in a simple country house style, and a bright, modern bathroom with a spacious, wheelchair-accessible shower. The entire vacation rental is tiled with light wood-look tiles and is also equipped with underfloor heating.
Nestled in the beautiful natural surroundings of Schleswig-Holstein, Bornholt—with its absolutely peaceful location—is the perfect starting point for day trips to Hamburg, Lübeck, and/or Kiel, as well as to Denmark and the North Sea or Baltic Sea. No matter where your travels take you, all possibilities are open to you from here.
The Knut vacation rental is just a stone’s throw away from the beautiful Kiel Canal (NOK), the world’s busiest man-made waterway. Here, you can get up close to the wider world, which passes by all day in the form of large container ships, small sailboats, and, every now and then, magnificent cruise ships. It’s the perfect spot for long walks or an idyllic picnic right on the canal bank. And for avid cyclists, the NOK Route awaits—a roughly 325-kilometer route that runs along the Kiel Canal and through the scenic hinterland, from Brunsbüttel to Kiel (or vice versa). The Kiel Canal offers ideal conditions for your very own vacation experiences.
Bornholt is also located in the so-called “Three-Country Corner.” The municipality itself is located in the Rendsburg/Eckernförde district, but also borders the districts of Steinburg and Dithmarschen, offering a wide range of opportunities and, above all, easy access to great activities and attractions.

Hanerau-Hademarschen, also just a few kilometers away and therefore easily accessible, is known, among other things, as the place where the poet Theodor Storm lived and worked; he wrote his novella “Der Schimmelreiter” here. In the town’s forest cemetery stands a monument honoring the poet, which is open to the public and depicts Theodor Storm sitting on a bench in a lifelike pose.
About 12 km away from our vacation rentals, a true natural paradise awaits you. The Louisenbad Schenefeld. The historic mill pond invites you to relax with its natural swimming area, sandy beach, and beautiful walking paths. Admission to the pool is traditionally free. In addition to restrooms and changing rooms, there is a large sunbathing lawn with plenty of seating. And if all that swimming has made you hungry, you can enjoy cakes, pastries, and other treats at Nanke’s Café—all while taking in the magnificent view of the mill pond from the lake pavilion. Highly recommended!
Thanks to their convenient and, above all, quick accessibility, Hademarschen (11 km), Albersdorf (11 km), and Schenefeld (13 km) offer great options for everyday shopping.
The nearest larger towns, Heide and Itzehoe, with their charming shopping streets, offer the ideal setting for a leisurely stroll through town and/or extensive shopping trips. Heide is also known for having the largest undeveloped town square in Germany. A weekly market is held there every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
