Nestled among green meadows and fields and located right next to the Kiel Canal, Bornholt is the ideal vacation spot for cyclists, avid shipwatchers, and guests with dogs.With the Kiel Canal practically on your doorstep, the “Käthe”—thanks to its very quiet location on the outskirts of town—offers the perfect conditions for pure relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of stressful everyday life in a natural, typically North German setting.

It is located on the first floor and is furnished in a modern country-style. The “Käthe” features two separate bedrooms, a small bathroom with a shower, a bright and inviting living room, and a high-quality, fully equipped kitchen (with a dishwasher and microwave)
Whether it’s a washing machine, dryer, free Wi-Fi, or TVs in the bedrooms—this place has everything you could want.
Dogs are warmly welcome here and can run around to their heart’s content in the fenced-in garden with a southwest-facing terrace. There is high-speed fiber-optic Wi-Fi and a lockable bike shed with a power outlet.
In addition, our vacation apartments are a great starting point for day trips to the North Sea and the Baltic Sea; to Denmark (about 2 hours by car); or to major cities such as Hamburg, Kiel, and/or Lübeck. Shopping options are easily accessible by car in Albersdorf and Hademarschen

The area around Bornholt also offers easy access to a wide variety of attractions. Just a few kilometers away and easily reached by car, the Dithmarschen Stone Age Park in Albersdorf delights families and history buffs alike and invites visitors on an exciting journey through time. Hanerau-Hademarschen, also just a few minutes away by car, is known as the place where the poet Theodor Storm lived and worked; he wrote his novella “Der Schimmelreiter” here.
The nearest major towns, Heide and Itzehoe, with their charming shopping streets, offer the perfect setting for a leisurely stroll through town and/or an extensive shopping spree. Heide is also known for having the largest undeveloped market square in Germany. A weekly market is held there every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
