About this cabin rental
Kochhäusl am Wattenberg
Romantic mountainwith sauna in the Tux Alps · 2–4 people · bookable year-round
Austria · Tyrol · Hall-Wattens · Wattenberg · Tux Alps · on the Adlerweg & Munich-Venice Dream Trail
Right outside the door is a water trough with herbs, behind the door, a Swedish stove that’s already been preheated. The Kochhäusl is located on the Wattenberg, in the heart of the Tux Alps, a few hundred meters above the Inn Valley. The name isn’t some marketing gimmick—people really did cook here, even back when it wasn’t yet a guest cabin. Today, that’s exactly what it is: a place for two to four people that looks small from the outside but feels just right on the inside. Sheep graze in the pasture next door, the Karwendel range stretches across the horizon opposite, and in between lies a garden, a sun terrace, and the feeling of being in a completely secluded spot without being isolated.
Romantic mountain cabin with a sauna for 2 to 4 people
A double bed in the separate bedroom, and a sofa bed in the living area for one additional adult or two children. The kitchen is fully equipped—stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, pots, and cutlery—and the sauna, scented with Swiss stone pine, awaits you in the evening when you return tired from your hike. Bathroom with hot water, crib available upon request, bed linens and towels included. Josef and Maria, your hosts, are nearby if you need them—but most of the time you won’t hear them; instead, you’ll hear only the sheep, the wind, and the wood crackling in the Swedish stove. In summer, you can park 100 m from the cabin; in winter, 200 m. The last few meters on foot are part of the experience of arriving.
Right on the Tyrolean Eagle Trail and the Munich Dream Trail-Venice
From the Kochhäusl, you can set out on two of Europe’s most famous long-distance hiking trails: the Munich-Venice Dream Trail and the Tyrolean Eagle Trail toward the Lizumer Hut (8 km, approx. 2 hours). Both trails start right outside the door. In summer, enjoy mountain hikes to the Glungezer summit (2,677 m), mountain bike trails through the Tux Alps, and swimming in the Wattens quarry lake. In winter, it’s an insider’s tip for ski touring in the Lizum area of Wattens, a day of skiing at the family-friendly Wildstättlift Wattenberg, or sunny fun on the slopes at the Glungezer ski area (8 km). The Kreuztaxen toboggan run starts right at Wattenberg.
Cabin vacation in the Hall-Wattens vacation region All year round
The Kochhäusl is available for booking year-round. In spring, when the first crocuses bloom through the lingering snow and the sheep return to the pastures. In summer, when the mountain air is fragrant and the garden becomes your favorite spot. In fall, when the larch trees blaze golden and sauna sessions with a view become part of your routine. In winter, when the snow makes the world quieter and you sink into the Swiss stone pine sauna after your hike from the Glungezer. Four seasons, one cabin—and in each, it holds a different promise.
Romance for couples. A getaway for small families. A hiking base for anyone wanting to set out on the Adlerweg. Hall in Tirol is 15 km away, Innsbruck is just a 20-minute drive, and the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens are just 8 km from the door.
Here you can hear the sheep bleating, the larch trees rustling—and nothing else. That’s exactly the idea.
Where tradition and Tyrolean mountain romance welcome you.
