Follow the footpath from the village up to Comb Beck and Whinlatter Forest, which has abundant walks, mountain bike trails, and treetop adventures. Discover the Georgian town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth (11 miles), and Keswick (3.5 miles), nicknamed the adventure capital of the Lake District. Meet meerkats, lemurs and red pandas at the Lake District Wildlife Park in Bassenthwaite (6 miles), or uncover the Senhouse Roman Museum in coastal Maryport (17.5 miles).
