Whisk your special someone off for a romantic getaway at this beautifully-restored 18th-century barn in the peaceful village of Alhampton – just 11 miles outside Glastonbury. Sleeping two people in one bedroom, this adorable barn is ideal for couples who are in search of a pretty period cottage to call home while they discover the serene beauty of Somerset together hand in hand. Head into the market town of Castle Cary (2 miles) to browse the shops or set off on a hike along the Leland Trail, Macmillan Way, or Monarch's Way. Alternatively, grab your swimsuit and treat yourself to an afternoon dip at Shepton Mallet Lido (4 miles), which is warmed using recycled heat from a nearby cider and perry maker. Further afield, head to Stonehenge (35 miles) to gaze upon the iconic stone circle, which is believed to have been built around 3100BC.
Step inside this lovely Grade II-listed barn conversion and you’ll discover a charming open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner showcasing original features, beautiful, exposed stonework and rustic design details. Cook up a storm in the stylish kitchen area and share a romantic meal for two in the quaint dining area beside the large window. Afterwards, snuggle up in front of the wood burner in the lounge area and watch your favourite movie on the Smart TV. When the day is done, head upstairs to the super-king-size bed under the eaves in the mezzanine bedroom. In the morning, freshen up in the sleek double shower in the shower room on the ground floor.
