Sitting along the banks of Windermere, Bowness has a wealth of friendly restaurants and traditional pubs, and is home to the popular Beatrix Potter Attraction. Walkers can head to some stunning local viewpoints including Gummer's How, School Knott Tarn, and Orrest Head (all within 8 miles). From the Windermere Jetty Museum (1 mile), you can join a steamboat cruise along Windermere, calling in at Lakeside, Ambleside, and Wray Castle. The Windermere area has a wide choice of popular attractions and landmarks including the Lakeland Motor Museum, Lakeland Farm Visitor Centre, Blackwell – the Arts and Crafts House, Brockhole on Windermere, and Wansfell Pike (all within 9 miles).
