Tucked away in the countryside yet far from being cut off, this lovely cottage on Great Everdon Manor Estate makes a great base for exploring the best of Kent. A local pub is located nearby (1.5 miles) in the village of Alkham. The coastline is within easy reach, offering everything from traditional seaside fun at Sunny Sands (6 miles) to quieter pebbly coves at Sandgate and Mermaid Beach (8 miles). If you’ve got walkers in the group, the White Cliffs of Dover (7.5 miles) are a must for viewing the National Trust’s magnificent chalk and flint landmark. For something a bit different, Port Lympne Safari Park and Howletts Wildlife Sanctuary (both within 14 miles) make for brilliant family days out and are guaranteed to impress kids and grown-ups alike. Plus, when you want to dine out, Folkestone (6 miles) offers fantastic locally caught fish and chip dinners.
