This extraordinary property has to be seen to be believed. With seven individually themed bedrooms, it’s ideal for large groups, whether extended families or friends celebrating together. The quirky destination has been converted from a former pub in the historic heart of Kendal, just moments from an array of boutiques, bars and places to eat. Explore historic and heritage sites nearby, such as the Quaker Tapestry Museum, Abbot Hall and Kendal Castle, all within 2 miles. This is also a great base for getting out and about in the great outdoors. You’re on the edge of the Lake District National Park, with a fabulous choice of hiking and biking trails nearby, plus all kinds of adventurous experiences, from rock climbing to canoeing. Head to Bowness, just 10 miles away, for serene cruises on Lake Windermere and The World of Beatrix Potter attraction.
Enter a different world when you step through the doors of this former pub, a historic building with rugged beams and sloping ceilings on the top floor. The ground floor is a huge, open-plan space crafted out of the former bar areas and featuring the latest in modern interior design. In the kitchen area, you’re provided with everything necessary for group catering, including a range cooker and a dishwasher – plus that all-important coffee maker. A vast dining table seats up to 16 people for celebratory meals – perfect for birthdays, anniversaries or simply catching up with loved ones. When you’ve eaten and drunk your fill, sink into the sumptuous seating, enjoy the flames of the inset, contemporary fire and switch on the Smart TV or play your favourite tracks on the Sonos sound system. Also on this level is a surprising (but handy) feature – his ‘n’ hers pub-style WCs. Head down to the basement to find a state-of-the-art cinema room with a huge screen, deep-seated sofa and a popcorn-making machine.
