The property has an amazing location, a private driveway and a really lovely outdoor seating area. It was an absolute steal at the price I booked it compared to even caravans in the area. The bungalow felt very cosy and private and had a nice atmosphere. It was nice and well kept, you can tell the property has been well loved by the occupants. Beds were very comfy, I slept really well in the double bed! There’s also a full kitchen with absolutely everything you need, and both bathrooms were nice and clean.
The main issues I had were because I brought my dog with me (a jack russel/dachshund cross) - so they probably won’t apply to most guests! The property was listed as dog friendly which I really appreciate the host offering, and it’s the main reason I booked to stay here. From the photos it looks like the garden was securely enclosed which it partially was, but the smaller gate you use to access the property isn’t secured on the bottom and my dog managed to actually open it from the bottom even though the top of the gate was latched shut. If you have a smaller dog, the gap under the main double gates is also big enough for a terrier breed to fit under, and the property is next to a main road so not ideal! The garden was lovely but unfortunately meant we couldn’t enjoy it with my dog in case she slipped out of her harness/lead and got onto the road. My other main issue was that the property owners cars were left at the property which they totally have a right to do! But I wasn’t aware of this upon arrival and I felt uncomfortable being potentially responsible for them during my stay in case of any break ins or vandalism- or even accidentally knocking one. The last thing was there were sooooo many spider webs which I would expect in an old countryside building , but there were at least 8 quite big spiders that had been there quite a while from the size of them and their webs (they weren’t the thin spindly harvestmen spiders you get everywhere , they were chunky!) We relocated a few outside ourselves but the property could really do with a regular thorough dusting. I’m trying not to be too picky or critical, the property was lovely and I don’t think they’ve had many people stay yet as this is perhaps the first review (?) But it definitely feels more like a home that’s not in use all the time so it’s being used as a side hussle, rather than being a dedicated holiday home fitted out with guests in mind.
