Apartment La Terrazza sul Lago by Interhome

The apartment is spacious and clean, with gorgeous views from the large terrace. The location is very convenient—about a 15-minute drive to Varenna and five minutes from Bellano. A car is recommended, as walking to the train station requires using a road without a sidewalk. The kitchen is well equipped for preparing meals, although we only made breakfast.

The garage is small and was difficult for us to use, but outdoor parking spaces were available. The double bed was extremely hard—even for someone who prefers a firm mattress—while the two single beds in the children’s room were soft. The main bathroom had a sewer smell coming from the shower drain, so we covered it after each use and kept the bedroom door closed. This may be common in the lake area, but we are unsure. There was no printed welcome book, so guests should review the electronic version. We initially could not find the Wi-Fi password; it is listed on the router in the living room next to the TV. A bottle of water upon arrival would have been appreciated. Pool towels were not provided, so guests should bring their own—something that may be difficult for international travelers with limited luggage space. The pool is located next to the apartment, but the noise is minimal when the windows are closed. Finally, we were asked to pay a local tax of €3 per person per night, although the correct amount was €2.
