Attico In Santo Spirito Firenze

The property is beautiful with lots of character. Excellent location.

Dishes in the kitchen were dirty so we had wash before we used anything. We had to spray for mosquitoes and ants.

The location was good, we liked the Santo Spirito areas very much. Short walk to a bridge to cross the river, and short walk to the Santo Spirito square with lots of bars and restaurants. The apartment is large with a huge bedroom, and very grand with frescos on the ceilings. It's a historical building and much of the apartment is full of traditional and antique furniture. We ate out, but my partner appreciated the modern coffee maker, and there is a fridge for cold drinks. It was nice to have the orangery area to relax in (although a little cluttered and the plants are starting to take over that area!) and I'm sure some guests also would take chairs out onto the terrace. There is air-conditioning in the bedroom, however as we visited early October we can't comment on how it would cope with the heat of summer. We were met on arrival and the helpful welcomer, guided us up several flights of stairs and advised which key was needed for each door/gate on the way - 5 keys needed to get from the front door to the apartment - be aware it is an old building with no lift.

We did find the bedroom very noisy. Even with the windows and shutters closed the road noise outside was very loud and started very early in the morning. It was frustrating how many light switches didn't work, coming in in the dark on our first evening and trying 6 different switches in different places before finding one that turned anything on. Judging by the the kitchen and bathroom the apartment was converted in the 1980s and both spoilt the charm of the rest of the building, and could do with further modernisation, but in a style more in keeping. The hole in the ceiling above the shower is quite creepy! The property also needs a mirror in a well lit area close to a socket, the only one is in the bathroom which isn't practical when you want to do your hair and make up while some one else is shaving, showering and using the bathroom. The broken ice tray in the freezer needs replacing. Side note - anyone who doesn't like heights should note that the only access to the apartment is via path across the roof terrace, with a 3 story drop on one side - all perfectly safe with proper railings etc, and most people wouldn't bat an eyelid at it, and probably cross similar bridges and walkways everyday - but not everyone's cup of tea - I had to take a deep breath cross quickly and not look down!!!
