The Georgian market town of Cockermouth is just 1 mile away and is considered the gateway to the Lake District and the Solway Coast. Visit its pubs, shops and galleries before continuing on to Bassenthwaite Lake (6 miles) for a wander around the bank and photoshoots of the sparkling waters. Loweswater, Crummock Water and Buttermere sit within 11.5 miles, while the renowned Keswick Lake is 13 miles away, and is a great choice for outdoor activities, such as walking, cycling and water-based sports. When you’re not exploring the shimmering lakes of this spectacular area, admire the views from the summits of the Skiddaw or Barrow fells, both within 13 miles.

Use three steps to enter this modernly designed lodge, where the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner creates a spacious environment for the whole family to gather. The lounge space is comfortable, with a large L-shaped sofa that’s arranged around a handy storage unit and Smart TV. Behind is the stylish kitchen, with all the appliances you could need for a stress-free self-catering stay, including a range oven and a dishwasher. The adjacent dining table provides space for four to enjoy their meals.
