The Neighborhood:
Main Street is a north-south linear amalgam of Mount Pleasant/Riley Park/Little Mountain, a contiguous high street entity. It boasts beautiful parks both small and large, a dizzying variety of retail shops (many of them used/vintage), a handful of art galleries, a torrent of new breweries, good record stores, a litter of interesting independent restaurants that run the cuisine gamut, quality cafes/hangouts, live music venues, bingo games, a happening legion, and even a farmer’s market. Known as much for its cool factor as for its diversity and down-to-earth accessibility, Main Street – in our estimation of its modern borders – is as honest a cross-sectioned representation of Vancouver’s cultural promise as you’ll find.

There are more great walkable spots on nearby Fraser St. Especially at the intersection of Fraser and Kingsway (see Salvio Volpe, Faux Bourgeois, Ernest Ice Cream).
For those with young children, there are independent spots like Collage, collage for arts and activities, and Le Marche St. George, Rocky Mount Flatbread, or Bells and Whistles for very kid-friendly meals.
There are numerous local parks to check out including Prince Edward Park with a playground, sports field, and seasonal splash park) right across the street. The nearby Hillcrest Community Center is great for swims, gyms, and library needs.
If you're looking for more, Main Street is very central with quick access to other areas of the city.
Getting Around:
Two private parking spots on the driveway are available as well as plenty of parking is available right across the (quiet) street. Shops and restaurants are 2 blocks away - just a couple minutes walk.
Transit (bus) runs north-south on Main Street or east-west on King Edward St. Both are just a couple of minutes' walk from the house. Both connect with the larger Sky-Train network incl. connection out to YVR airport. (King Edward Bus connects directly to Millenium Line out to YVR).
Mobi (short-term bikes) are available in the neighborhood too. With the closest station being at Main and 18 Ave.
