About this apartment rental

Spacious one-bedroom apartment on the upper floors of iconic Princes Wharf — stunning views to Rangitoto Island and across the Waitematā Harbour, bathed in morning sun from the generous furnished balcony. Open-plan living, fully equipped kitchen, in-apartment laundry, air conditioning, and 64m² of beautifully located city living. The Ferry Terminal, Viaduct, Commercial Bay, and Britomart are all on your doorstep. An authentic Auckland waterfront experience.

The apartment

There are very few places in Auckland where you can wake up, step onto your balcony, and look out across the Waitematā Harbour to Rangitoto Island rising from the water — its perfect volcanic cone silhouetted against the morning sky. This Princes Wharf apartment is one of them. On the upper floors of this iconic heritage finger wharf, with morning sun flooding the balcony and harbour views stretching in every direction, this is waterfront living in the most genuine sense of the phrase.

At approximately 64 square metres, this is one of the more generously proportioned one-bedroom apartments on the wharf — a noticeably spacious open-plan layout that flows naturally from the living and dining area through to the kitchen and out onto the wide, furnished balcony beyond. The balcony is the apartment`s defining feature: large enough to actually use, furnished for comfort, and oriented to catch the morning sun as it rises over the Waitematā. It is the kind of outdoor space that makes you linger over a second coffee.

The living area is comfortable and well laid out, with air conditioning for year-round comfort and a flat-screen TV for evenings in. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering — oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and all the cookware and utensils you need — and the in-apartment washer and dryer add practical self-sufficiency for longer stays. The bedroom is a calm, private retreat with quality linen, and the bathroom is clean and well-appointed throughout.

The location is simply without peer. Princes Wharf is one of Auckland`s most recognisable and beloved addresses — a beautifully restored heritage finger wharf that extends 220 metres into the harbour, flanked by water on both sides, with the city rising behind and the open Waitematā ahead. To stay here is to stay at the very edge of Auckland, looking out.

Shed 20 — Princes Wharf

Shed 20 is the original heritage industrial shed building at the heart of Princes Wharf — transformed from its working port origins into a residential and short-stay precinct that has become one of Auckland`s most sought-after waterfront addresses. The building has secure access throughout and is managed to a high standard. The wharf`s distinctive terracotta-tiled promenade runs along both sides of the building, giving the whole address its unique maritime character and the constant, gentle sense of being surrounded by water.

Apartment 61 sits on the upper floors of Shed 20 — one of the higher positions in the building and one of the reasons the Rangitoto and harbour views are so open and uninterrupted. The elevated position also means the morning sun reaches the balcony early and stays long into the afternoon.

Check-in is from 3:00 PM. Keys are collected from the secure key safe — full instructions and access codes will be sent the day before your arrival. The key safe is straightforward to use and means there is no waiting around for someone to let you in. If you have any questions or encounter any issues on arrival, we are available and will respond promptly.

To ensure a smooth arrival, we ask all guests to complete a short online pre-check-in form and upload a valid government-issued photo ID before arriving — this takes just a couple of minutes. A private airport transfer can be arranged at additional cost with at least 48 hours notice — just get in touch when you book.

The entire apartment is yours — bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, open-plan living and dining area, and the furnished balcony

While we will leave you in peace to enjoy your time in Auckland, we are available 24 hours a day for an emergency.

For those non-urgent like-to-haves, just give us a call or a quick message and we will do everything we can to make this your most memorable trip to Auckland yet.

The Auckland waterfront at your doorstep

Walk off the wharf and you are immediately in the heart of Auckland`s waterfront precinct. The Viaduct Harbour — with its celebrated restaurants and bars, yachts and superyachts moored alongside, and the gentle hum of one of the city`s most consistently enjoyable dining and social environments — is a five-minute walk. Commercial Bay`s flagship waterfront retail and dining complex is equally close, as are the Queen Street shopping district and the broader CBD just a short stroll away.

The Auckland Ferry Terminal is practically next door — regular daily services to Waiheke Island, Devonport, and the Hauraki Gulf depart from right at the end of the wharf, making this one of the most convenient possible bases for island and harbour exploration. Britomart Transport Centre, connecting the full Auckland train network, is a 10-minute walk. Wynyard Quarter and the North Wharf dining precinct — home to some of Auckland`s best waterfront restaurants, Silo Park, and the Auckland Fish Market — are a comfortable stroll west along the waterfront.

For guests who appreciate the finer details: the Queens Wharf redevelopment sits directly alongside Princes Wharf and has become one of the most animated public spaces in the city, particularly during events and on summer evenings. The waterfront walking and cycling path connects all the way from the Viaduct to Parnell and beyond, making this one of the most enjoyable addresses in Auckland for guests who like to explore on foot.

Auckland is easily explored from Princes Wharf. The Auckland Ferry Terminal is steps away with regular services to Waiheke Island, Devonport, and the Hauraki Gulf. Britomart Transport Centre is a 10-minute walk with full train network connections. The Inner Link and Outer Link buses connect the central suburbs with frequent services throughout the day. Uber and taxis are available at all hours throughout the waterfront precinct. Please note there is no car park with this apartment — paid public parking is available in the Viaduct and CBD nearby. The location is so well connected that most guests find a car entirely unnecessary during their stay. Auckland Airport is approximately 30 to 40 minutes by car or shuttle.

The balcony is the apartment`s standout feature and is best enjoyed in the morning — the sun reaches it early and the harbour views to Rangitoto are exceptional in the morning light. The building`s position on Princes Wharf means you may occasionally be aware of harbour activity and the ambient sounds of the waterfront — most guests find this adds enormously to the character of the stay. The balcony doors seal well when closed for a comfortable night`s sleep.

Please note there is no car park with this apartment and no luggage storage at the property. If you are arriving before check-in time, the Viaduct cafes and waterfront promenade make a wonderful place to spend a morning while you wait. Weekly and monthly rates are available for extended stays, and a 10% discount applies automatically to stays of 28 nights or more.

This is a non-smoking, no-vaping property throughout — including the balcony and all common areas. No parties or events. Quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Checkout is by 10:00 AM.
We kindly ask all guests to help us maintain the peaceful, high-standard environment of this home by following a few simple rules:

A valid photo ID, email address, and phone number are required prior to check-in.

Please respect our no-party policy and observe quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Smoking, vaping, or drug use is not permitted inside the suite or anywhere in the apartment, building, complex or balcony.

In the rare case of a noise complaint or evidence of smoking, an additional fee of up to NZD $500 may apply.

Check in available after 3pm through lock box key collection. Lock boxes are located a short distance away, full details will be sent prior to arrival. We advise collecting the keys on your way to the apartment, if coming to the city via taxi or UBER, ask the taxi to wait a second while you collect the key. The walk to the apartment from the lock box is not far, but no one wants to walk in the city with suitcases!

These measures ensure that every guest enjoys a serene, premium experience — thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
