Juste un petit bémol sur le ménage mais salle de bain propre

The problem we had with our booking in Flic en Flac, Mauritius, was as follows: We paid for our booking two weeks before our trip to Mauritius. Nowhere was it mentioned that there were extra taxes for foreign nationals to pay, so our booking was confirmed by Booking.com without any issues!! Then, on the eve of our return to Germany, the flat’s owner told us that all foreign nationals were required to pay 3 euros per night; as there were four of us, the total amount for 21 nights came to 252 euros. We asked the owner for a receipt confirming receipt of the payment; he acknowledged in writing that he had received this amount from us, and we then sent this document to Booking.com. Booking.com asked the owner to send us a formal invoice with the company’s name and address, and then asked us to contact the owner as well. We got in touch with the owner on 4 September 2026, and he confirmed that he would send us the invoice, but to this day nothing has been done!! It’s a shame and very unfortunate. I advise you to find out all the necessary information well in advance before making any booking in Mauritius, so as not to fall into the same trap as we did. And as far as I know, it is only a tax authority that collects taxes, not private individuals!! Why didn’t Booking.com mention anywhere that there are taxes for foreign visitors to pay? We’re completely confused and disappointed ☹️
