Leadville sits at 10,152 feet — the highest incorporated city in North America. The downtown district is on the National Register of Historic Places. Plan a slow first day for altitude acclimation.



Getting Around:

The condo is one block off Harrison Avenue, so most travelers do not need a car for downtown — every restaurant, bar, and shop on Harrison is a 2-to-5-minute walk. A car is required to reach Ski Cooper, Copper Mountain, the 14er trailheads, Turquoise Lake, Twin Lakes, or Vail/Beaver Creek.

✔ Snow removal — Watch posted signs in winter to avoid temporary no-parking enforcement

✔ Neighbor courtesy — Do not park directly in front of houses on East 8th Street; use the building's frontage

✔ Airport — Denver International (DEN) is ~2 hr 15 min via I-70; Aspen (ASE) is ~1.5 hr in summer when Independence Pass is open

✔ Rideshare — Uber and Lyft availability is limited in Leadville; have a plan if you do not drive in

- Infrared sauna — 2-person far-infrared unit inside the bedroom, fully private to your stay. Recommended sessions 30–45 minutes; operating instructions in the digital guidebook sent the morning of arrival. Hydrate before and after, and ease in slowly on your first day at elevation.

- No air conditioning — not needed at 10,152 ft; Leadville stays cool year-round. Heating is in-floor and forced-air.

- Pet policy — pets welcome, two pets maximum; $50 pet fee applies (collected via the guidebook link after booking). Bag and tie pet waste and use the three green Waste Management bins on the north side of the building.

- For stays longer than 15 days, a mid-stay cleaning is required (an additional fee applies). This keeps the home comfortable for the duration of your stay.

- Parking — free on-street on Poplar Street in front of the unit, plus diagonal spaces on 8th Street across from the building. Watch posted snow-removal signs in winter to avoid towing, and please don't park directly in front of the houses on East 8th Street.

- Altitude awareness — Leadville is the highest incorporated city in North America at 10,152 ft. Symptoms (headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue) usually pass in 24–48 hours: hydrate aggressively, pace yourself day one, skip alcohol the first night. We cannot offer refunds for altitude-related early departures; travel insurance is recommended.

- Mountain wildlife — occasional insects or small critters are part of mountain living; we treat the unit regularly and recommend keeping exterior doors closed.
