Cottage in St Edmundsbury District
Reasons to book
About this cottage rental
Sleeps 5 across two bedrooms — both superkings, both split to twins on request. Around 10 minutes by car to Bury St Edmunds, 20 minutes to Lavenham, under an hour to the Suffolk coast.
THE COTTAGE
Downstairs, the open living and dining space is split by exposed vertical beams, with original features throughout and the lounge centred on a wood burner — the obvious place to land at the end of the day. The kitchen runs to oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, espresso machine, and toaster — everything you need to cook properly, rather than getting by. A downstairs WC sits just inside the back door, so wet feet and muddy boots stay out of the main house.
Upstairs, the bathroom has both a full bath and a separate shower — useful when more than two of you are getting ready at once. 500 Mbps fibre Wi-Fi throughout and a dedicated workspace for two.
THE BEDROOMS
The first bedroom has a superking bed plus a pull-out trundle, sleeping up to three — well-suited to a family with a child or three friends sharing. St Mary's church spire is visible from the bed.
The second has a superking with views over the garden and the thatched rooftops of the village. Both beds convert to twin singles on request.
THE GARDEN
Outside is where Church View earns its keep. The enclosed private garden centres on a hot tub kept heated and ready 24 hours a day throughout your stay, with a fire pit and BBQ alongside and outdoor seating set up for long evenings. Soak after a day exploring Bury St Edmunds, light the fire pit as the sun drops, or sit out with a glass of wine while the kids roast marshmallows.
THE LOCATION
Step out the front door and you're on Woolpit's historic main square — pub, tearoom, bakery and the medieval church of St Mary's all within a few minutes' walk. Bury St Edmunds is around 15 minutes by car for the Abbey Gardens, the cathedral, and the restaurants.
Lavenham — the most-photographed medieval village in England — is 20 minutes away. Sutton Hoo, Constable Country, and the Suffolk coast (Aldeburgh, Southwold, Walberswick) are all within an hour.
PARKING & ACCESS
Guests have full and exclusive use of the entire cottage and its enclosed garden. Free, secure parking is available at the church car park two doors down or on the street in front of the cottage.
