Paradise Apartment in Ai Giannis

We liked the location as it was close to the Papa Nero beach and main beach in Agios Ioannis. It was also close to the bakery, super markets and restaurants. In that part of Agios Ioannis there are big trees so it was never hot inside aparment and we didn't need to use A/C. The apartment faces the sea, but it is not visible because of the trees, which did not bother us since we can sit on the terrace all day long. Although there was no parking spaces in the street in front of the property, we could find parking spaces in the nearby street. Main parking is also pretty close.

When we booked the apartment, there were no reviews on Booking, but since there weren't many options, we gave it a chance. However, there were many things we weren't happy with. First of all, the owner doesn't speak English and it was very difficult to communicate with him. We mostly used Booking messages, but the automatic translation was hard to understand most of the time. At the very beginning, he insisted that we had to pay him the tourist tax (64 EUR) even though Booking had already charged me the tax. I showed him the confirmation from Booking and bank statement that my payment included the tax, but he kept sending me messages that I had to pay him this tax. It was a weekend, so it took some time until this was resolved. The cleanliness of the apartment needs to be improved. We found stains on some of the bed linen. Others were brand new, with a price tag - (so they had never been washed). We only had two large towels (there were four of us) and when we complained to the owner, he wrote to us that the previous guest had stolen his towels, so he had to go to Volos to buy them. First he was supposed to buy them on Monday, then on Wednesday, so we stopped asking him - we didn't get them! It's not normal to rent an apartment and not have spare towels! Linens (as well as towels) were not changed during our stay (8 nights). The Internet stopped working on the penultimate day. The owner promised to take care of it immediately, but that wasn't resolved either. Beds in the bedroom were quite creaky. There are 3 sofa beds in the living room, but they are not comfortable for adults and are also creaky. There were four of us (two older children) but there weren't enough kitchen utensils (knives, cups) for us. All in all, we are not satisfied with our stay. I hope the owner is just new to Booking and will change his way of working, because I think the apartment itself has some positive sides.
