Elegant San Juan Loft for 8 The Mezzanine

Absolutely loved staying at The Mezzanine in Old San Juan! The high ceilings made the space feel so open and beautiful, and the AC was incredible—we were actually freezing some nights, which is surprisingly hard to find in Puerto Rico, especially in Old San Juan. My favorite part of the property was the massive window doors that opened onto the balcony. It was the perfect spot to sit, enjoy the view of Old San Juan, and people-watch throughout the day. The location is fantastic—right in the heart of everything, yet tucked away next to Raíces Restaurant, making it feel like a hidden gem. It was always fun seeing people’s reactions when we’d walk in and out because you’d never expect such an amazing place to be hidden there. The property also came with a washer and dryer, which was a huge bonus, especially after spending days exploring the city and the beach. The showers were great, with solid water pressure, and everything felt clean and well-maintained. The beds are lofted, so you’ll need to climb a short set of stairs to get to them, but we found them comfortable. One thing I wanted to mention because I saw it in other reviews: the stairs to reach the property really aren’t bad. I counted 27 steps from the street to the entrance. If you have significant mobility limitations, it may be something to consider, but for the average traveler, I didn’t find them difficult at all. I would absolutely stay here again the next time I’m in Puerto Rico. This property exceeded my expectations and was one of my favorite places I’ve stayed.

The only small downside during our stay was that there weren’t any laundry pods provided and only one dishwasher pod. We ended up buying our own, and since we had extras, we left them behind for the next guests. If you plan on using the washer, dryer, or dishwasher during your stay, I’d recommend picking up some detergent when you arrive. Other than that, the property was very well stocked and had everything else we needed. It was a very minor inconvenience and definitely wouldn’t stop me from staying here again.
