This place is a hidden gem — but you absolutely need a taxi or a car, there's no way to walk it. I had picked a spot I thought was close by and walkable, only to find that the address didn't match the real location, and I ended up farther away than if I'd just taken a taxi from where I started. By the time I realized it, I was in tears and called the host, then handed the phone to the owner of the cafe I'd stopped at so the two of them could sort out where I was — he told me to walk to the roundabout, and by the time I got there, the host was already waiting for me. That was the start of a wonderful experience. The room itself is simple, but the view is spectacular — you're looking straight across the water to Corfu, close enough it feels like you could touch it, and it's the kind of view that makes the harder-to-reach properties worth it. But really, it's the people here who make it unforgettable. If you want a taste of what it's like to visit family in a foreign country, this is it — they were kind, generous, and welcoming in a way that felt completely unfiltered. One evening they had errands to run in town and brought me along, let me wander while they took care of things, then we met back up after. They fed me, and any time our paths crossed they'd stop just to chat. The host (mother and son) — he spoke good English, but his mother spoke none, so we leaned on a none-too-reliable translation app, and ended up laughing our way through some wonderfully clumsy attempts at communication. We always figured it out in the end, one way or another.
