Le Duplex du Casino - Au cœur d'Evian

The large 3-bedroom apartment with a loft provided more than enough space for our group of 6 - it was actually much bigger than the pictures indicated. It is located on the 4th floor of a historic building with wonderful character, facing the Evian-les-Bains town square. We loved the easy walking distance to local shops and attractions. Parking isn’t included, but there is a reasonably priced underground garage conveniently located right next door.

There are three major issues future guests should know: 1. Misleading AC listing: The listing claims the apartment is air-conditioned, but it is not. We stayed during a historic heatwave and it was miserably hot. The 4th-floor layout (with windows all on one side) makes a natural cross-breeze impossible. The owner provided 3 small tower fans which helped slightly, but when AC is explicitly advertised, it should be provided (even just a portable unit). 2. Only one toilet: The listing advertises "two bathrooms." While there are two large bathing rooms (one with a jacuzzi, one with a tub/shower), neither contains a toilet. The only toilet is in a small, separate closet. Sharing one toilet among 6 people was an epic battle. 3. Severe Safety Hazard: The front door cannot be unlocked from the inside. If a group member locks it from the outside, anyone inside is trapped. This is a massive fire and life safety risk that must be fixed immediately.
