The jetted primary bath tub looks out over the forest and the outdoor deck is the perfect place to lounge, grill, and dine among the trees. Enjoy lazy mornings in bed with window coverings in the primary for comfort and privacy. The entire home is yours to enjoy -- make yourself at home from the moment you arrive. This home welcomes up to 1 dog -- the yard and nearby trails are ready for your pup. Driveway parking is available at the property. Detailed check-in instructions, including the door code, will be provided prior to your arrival. As a guest, you also have access to Sea Ranch community amenities including the pools, tennis courts, fitness center, and miles of trails. A recreation pass will be provided.
The Neighborhood:
Perched along the Sonoma Coast, The Sea Ranch is a nature lover's paradise -- think tidepools, wildflower meadows, and redwood groves at your doorstep. Nearby highlights include community heated pool and hot tub (South) (3-minute drive), Pebble Beach access trail (3-minute drive), Black Point headland trails (4-minute drive). Between the coastal trails, tidepools, heated pools, and The Sea Ranch Lodge's restaurant, you could fill a week without leaving the community. For provisions, Gualala (10 minutes south) has grocery stores, restaurants, and a gas station. Jenner and Bodega Bay are scenic drives south.
Getting Around:
This home sits on the east side of California Highway 1, less than a mile from Black Point Beach and the incredible Bluff Trail that traces the ocean shoreline. The Moonraker Recreation Center, with its outdoor heated pool, saunas, and tennis/pickleball court, is just across Highway 1. Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa is the nearest airport, about 1.5 hours east. A car is essential for exploring the area.
Other Things to Note:
Gas fireplace is decorative and not operational.
Good to know: cell reception and WiFi are very inconsistent here.
The living room on the second floor has no window coverings.
Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times.
Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast.
Whale watching season runs from December through April -- grab the binoculars and watch for gray whale spouts from your window. Spring (April-June) brings a wildflower show across the coastal meadows -- lupine, poppies, and iris paint the landscape. Summer (June-September) brings the warmest days and longest light. Morning fog is common along the coast -- it usually burns off by midday.

Property was clean and comfortable. It’s a three story home with one bedroom on the bottom floor and the master on the third floor, something to keep in mind if traveling with small children. Peek-a-boo water view from second and third story. Lots of windows, forest feel but a short drive to beach access. Best of both worlds! Be sure to turn on the vent before you cook.

There are many reasons my husband and I chose to return to Spyglass, but the one I see when I close my eyes, is the view out the windows—tree tops everywhere we look, all sides of the living room.
When the sun comes out, we can also see the sparkling water in the distance. But deep joy in staying at the Spyglass is enjoying the beauty of the redwoods.
