Orba
Nestled among the green hills of the Marina Alta lies Orba, a village where the scent of orange blossoms mingles with the sound of church bells and singing birds. Surrounded by mountains and valleys, and just a 15-minute drive from the coast of Dénia, Orba embodies the essence of rural Spain. Here, you live to the rhythm of the sun, among vineyards, almond trees, and people who still know each other by name.
The home is located in the Orbeta neighborhood, about a 5-minute walk from the center of Orba. This neighborhood has a centuries-old tradition of ceramics and pottery. There are still small workshops in the neighborhood where artisans produce handmade pots, bowls, and decorative pieces.
The village combines the best of both worlds: the tranquility of the countryside and the proximity to the sea and lively coastal towns. Orba is a place for those who love open spaces, sunshine, and simplicity—where traditions are still alive, neighbors know one another, and every day begins with light, silence, and a touch of Mediterranean magic.
Are you staying at our villa in Orba? Then you’ll find yourself in the heart of one of the most beautiful hiking areas on the Costa Blanca. Forget the mass tourism of the coast; here you’ll hike through an authentic Spanish landscape filled with fragrant orange and almond groves.
There’s something for everyone. Whether you prefer a leisurely morning stroll or a challenging hike, the area around Orba has it all:
- The Orba Valley: Right from the villa, you can walk along rolling trails among the fruit trees. Especially in early spring, when the almond blossoms turn the valley white and pink, this is a fairytale-like experience.
- The Girona River: Follow the riverbed for a flatter route with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
- The “Barranc de l’Infern”: For experienced hikers, the “Hell of the Vall de Laguar” is just a short drive away. This impressive route, featuring more than 6,000 stone steps, is also known as Spain’s “Hiking Cathedral.”
- Panoramic Views: Climb the surrounding hills for a spectacular view stretching from the rugged mountain peaks to the deep-blue Mediterranean Sea.
Culinary
Orba’s culinary life is deeply connected to the valley, the seasons, and tradition. In the village kitchens, recipes are still prepared just as grandmothers used to, with time, simplicity, and local ingredients.
An absolute classic from this region is Arroz al Horno, a rice dish with chickpeas, potatoes, tomatoes, and sausage. But there’s also Olleta, a hearty stew with legumes, vegetables, and meat. Also, because Orba is close to the coast, there is an abundance of dishes featuring fish, shellfish, and crustaceans.
Just a stone’s throw away, mistela is produced, which is served in many restaurants after the meal. You can also taste mistela and moscatel at Bodega Xalo (a 10-minute drive away).
Amenities at Beautiful family villa with pool. Between nature and close to the coast of Denia
