About this house rental

Summary:

Sunlight filters through towering redwoods as you sip morning coffee on the wraparound deck overlooking the Russian River. This dog-friendly retreat sleeps 8 with three bedrooms and an impressive outdoor kitchen complete with dual grills and smoker. Your private neighborhood beach sits right in the backyard — launch kayaks or simply wade into the gentle current. Just 5 minutes from downtown Guerneville's restaurants and 2 miles to Armstrong Redwoods. The river calls, and your cabin awaits.

The Space:

Spend mornings on the deck as mist lifts off the Russian River, afternoons floating the river or visiting Korbel and Joseph Jewell tasting rooms, and evenings around the firepit with the day's bottles.

The living room rises to vaulted ceilings with exposed dark wood beams. Sink into the sectional beside the wood-burning fireplace, queue something on the 50-inch smart TV, or pour a drink at the antique bar. Stainless appliances — French-door fridge, gas range — line the galley with a small island for extra prep, and a sliding glass door opens straight to the deck. The dining table seats six for the long, slow Russian River evenings the home is built around.

OUTDOOR LIVING

The wraparound deck is where the magic happens — three umbrella-shaded dining tables and a high-top for two nestle among the redwoods. In the fenced backyard, an outdoor kitchen with dual gas grills, range, and smoker surrounds a grand table for alfresco feasts. End the evening around the firepit, then rinse off in the outdoor shower.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

Three bedrooms sleep up to eight. The first two each offer a queen bed. The third has a queen plus a twin-over-full bunk — for families. A pocket door connects the second and third bedrooms.

Guest Access:

Step out to an elevated deck on the redwoods' edge, valley and forest fanning out, then come back inside this knotty-pine cabin where built-in bunks line the kids' room. You've got the whole home, dogs welcome, with a balcony off the main level and outdoor dining wrapping around. Punch in the keypad code on arrival; up to two cars fit in the carport, with two more in the driveway.

The Neighborhood:

Your cabin sits in a prime Russian River location, with your own private neighborhood beach right in the backyard — perfect for launching kayaks or cooling off on warm afternoons. The famous Korbel Winery is just 0.9 miles away for champagne tastings, while The Farmhand coffee shop is practically next door at 0.2 miles for your morning caffeine fix. When hunger strikes, La Fogata Taco Truck is a mere 0.1 mile stroll, or drive 5 minutes to downtown Guerneville where boon eat + drink (1.2 mi) serves seasonal California cuisine and Coffee Bazaar (1.1 mi) offers hearty breakfasts. The magnificent Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve awaits just 1.8 miles away — walk among ancient giants on the Pioneer Nature Trail. For groceries, MD Liquor and Food is 1.2 miles away, though Safeway (1.3 mi) offers a fuller selection. Your dog will love Bruno Farnocchia Dog Park, just 0.7 miles from your door.

Getting Around:

Guerneville is about 90 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road — a scenic drive through vineyards and into the redwoods. You'll have plenty of room with 4 parking spaces (2 in the carport, 2 in the driveway). A car makes the Russian River Valley easy to explore, from redwood trails to riverside wineries. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.

Other Things to Note:

The high-speed internet (350 Mbps down) keeps you connected when cell service gets spotty in the redwoods. While the home has efficient mini-split AC units and space heaters, the towering redwoods provide natural cooling shade on warm days. Take advantage of the incredible outdoor kitchen — with two gas grills, a gas range, AND a smoker, you can create feast-worthy meals. The outdoor shower is perfect after sandy river adventures. This is a true cabin experience with authentic knotty pine throughout — embrace the nostalgic Russian River vibe. The primary renter must be 25 or older. Your private beach access is a rare amenity — most properties require driving to river access points.

This place was perfect for a weekend with old friends. The sleeping situation is not the most glamorous (loud bunks) but that's really the only drawback. The porch view of the river, the majestic redwoods, the private beach and access to both a private offshoot of the river and the full river, the outdoor kitchen... it was bliss.

If give 4.5 stars if possible. The good: Awesome location right on the river. Walk right down to the water. The beach is a mud embankment on a small river estuary. Have to wade across to a cool little rock beach on the river which is a bit of a pain. Bring river shoes.Decks are great with killer view of river.Beds, showers, hot water all good.Weather was great so we didn't use AC but it's there and modern. The bad: No dishwashing soap. Little bit annoying. Not a sharp knife in the house. Stove needs updating.Deck chairs, and tables could use updating.Bring your own beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. ones at the house are decrepit. No kayak.Odd house layout. No true master bedroom with en suite bathroom.Stairs, stairs, stairs!

This property has such great potential and we would have had a wonderful stay - if not for the maintenance issues. The positives: Villa Eileen is a very nice property, in a beautiful tree filled setting with nice river views. The kitchen is stocked very well with every kitchen tool you could ever need and a wonderful big pantry. The accommodations were great and it was nicely decorated. There are lots of outdoor lights for the decks and stairs and that was really nice. It's in a quiet neighborhood and close to town. The negatives: The lower level deck was not really usable. What is not pictured is a very long table, covered in a tarps, with a big broken garbage can sitting next to it. Shed contents (chairs, etc), were dirty. The outdoor kitchen area is not really usable, nor it is a relaxing place to hang out. Luckily, the upstairs and main deck was very nice and as advertised. The upstairs deck BBQ is rusty though so we didn't use it. Inside, one bathroom had a towel rack and Toilet paper holder that were both broken and unusable. The bottom part of the toilet also had a slow leak. The 2 big burners on the stove were not working, and that was a bummer since we cooked a lot while there. Vacasa, was prompt with replying to us, but nothing was ever done to correct any issues. If maintenance issues were resolved, and the lower deck was cleaned up and made useable again, then our stay could have been 5 stars...!
