About this house rental

Summary:

Morning fog drifts past the turquoise walls and yellow door of this one-of-a-kind Bodega Bay cottage. The cheerful yellow door welcomes you into a bright beach retreat where nautical touches and cozy corners invite you to unwind. This 2-bedroom cottage sleeps 6 and sits just half a mile from Salmon Creek Beach. Fresh crab sandwiches at Spud Point are 1.5 miles away, and gray whales pass by Bodega Head all winter long. Here, the rhythm of the tides becomes your daily soundtrack.

The Space:

Spend mornings on the bluff as fog burns off the Pacific, afternoons exploring the Sonoma Coast's tide pools and trails, and evenings around the dining table with fresh crab from the harbor.

Beige seating and a wooden rocking chair invite you to slow down beside the gas fireplace. A built-in banquette in navy cushions tucks under one window as the breakfast nook, and large windows with bamboo blinds keep the room bright through the afternoon. Light wood cabinets line one wall as a galley, with a round dining table just beyond where the group sits down for meals. Low-key, easy, the day flowing toward the deck and back.

OUTDOOR LIVING

A wooden deck with wicker furniture extends from the cottage for morning coffee or evening wine. The grassy backyard offers white Adirondack chairs and cornhole for lawn games, while mature trees and shrubs create natural privacy.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

The first bedroom offers a queen bed in purple bedding with reading lamps. The second features a double/full bed in lavender tones. Both share white-painted wood walls and beige carpet. Up a ladder, a loft with purple railings holds a double futon. Total capacity: 6 guests.

Guest Access:

Throw open the cheerful yellow door of this turquoise cottage and the fishing village is right there — the harbor a short walk away, the Pacific just past it. The whole cottage is yours: built-in banquette dining, a loft sleeping space up the ladder, and the kitchen for your stay. Punch in the keypad code when you arrive; you'll find street parking out front plus a small lot just up the road.

The Neighborhood:

Your cottage sits in a prime Bodega Bay location where the rugged Sonoma Coast unfolds in every direction. Walk just half a mile to reach Salmon Creek State Beach, one of the area's most popular spots for beachcombing and watching surfers ride the Pacific swells. The famous Spud Point Crab Company is 1.5 miles away — locals and visitors line up for their legendary crab sandwiches and award-winning clam chowder. Within a mile, you'll find Sea Flower Cafe (1.0 mi) for morning espresso and Terrapin Creek (1.1 mi) for special occasion dinners featuring seasonal coastal cuisine. The harbor area (1.3-1.5 mi) offers multiple dining options including The Boat House, Fisherman's Cove, and Ginochio's Kitchen. For groceries and deli items, Pelican Plaza Grocery is 1.3 miles away. Nature surrounds you here — Sonoma Coast State Marine Conservation Area is just 0.3 miles away, while multiple beaches dot the coastline within a mile of your door.

Getting Around:

Bodega Bay is about 90 minutes from San Francisco — a beautiful drive up 101 and out Highway 1 through farmland and coastal ranches. The cottage offers street parking plus a small lot just up the road. A car makes exploring the Sonoma Coast effortless — it unfolds for miles in either direction. Cell service is light along the coast, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is a good idea.

Other Things to Note:

This property features security cameras at both the front and back of the home for your safety and security. While the cottage doesn't have air conditioning, the coastal location means it stays naturally cool year-round — ocean breezes and fog keep temperatures comfortable even in summer. The cottage's bright turquoise exterior with its cheerful yellow door makes it easy to spot when returning from adventures. Inside, you'll find the space efficiently designed to maximize the 786 square feet. The primary renter must be 21 or older. For TV entertainment, you'll need to log into your own streaming accounts. The full kitchen is perfect for preparing meals, though note there's no dishwasher — consider it part of the simple beach cottage experience. Stock up on groceries before arriving, as the nearest full supermarket is 30 minutes away in Sebastopol.

We love salmon creek neighborhood! Windy beaches great for flying kites and building with driftwood. This place was super cute decorated inside and out. All the properties here are a bit old fashioned - like little fisherman cottages. This one seems a bit better decorated than others and has a more updated exterior that is really cute. Adorable small backyard space. Weekend summer price seemed a bit high for such old places. Easy walk down the hill to the beach. They would benefit from new kitchen chairs (worried we would break them each time we used them). Kitchen had all we need to cook. Bring your own oils and basics because the only tiny market in Bodega Bay is cute but very pricey.

Great location and super cute yet there were a few things that were missed - 10am checkout. Way too early ! And they didn’t give any opportunities for pay to stay later - wifi was down half the trip - screens had holes in them and there were mosquitos - No deadbolts. Did not feel super secure especially with no blinds covering the exit door to the small bedroom
