Rotorua Retreat - Stylish 2BR with Covered Deck

Here’s a polished, genuine review that highlights the positives while keeping it balanced and believable: We had an amazing stay at Rotorua Retreat and would happily book here again. We originally booked for 16 nights but enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay to 18 nights, which says a lot! The home was exactly as pictured—modern, spotless, warm, and incredibly welcoming. It really felt like a home away from home. We especially appreciated having everything we needed for a longer stay, including a washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, reliable Wi-Fi, a well-equipped kitchen with plenty of cookware and utensils, and a bathroom stocked with towels, toiletries, and even a first aid kit. The heating and air conditioning kept the house comfortable throughout our winter stay. The location was perfect for us. It was in a quiet area, with shopping centres, supermarkets, and fast food all just a few minutes away. The Rotorua Redwoods were also only a short drive, making it a great base for exploring the area. The spacious deck and BBQ area looked fantastic too—although coming from the Australian warmth, we found the New Zealand winter a little too chilly to make the most of it! Communication with the host was excellent from start to finish. She was always quick to respond, and when we experienced an issue with the hot water, it was resolved within 24 hours, which we really appreciated. Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay. Comfortable, modern, convenient, and well-equipped—it had everything we needed and truly felt like home. We’d absolutely recommend it to couples or small families and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again on our next trip to Rotorua. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

There were only a couple of minor things worth mentioning. The driveway is a little narrow when entering, particularly if you’re driving a larger SUV, although there’s plenty of parking once you’re in. We also would have loved a little more bedroom storage, such as drawers for clothing, especially during a longer stay. Neither of these took away from our experience.

The location was good for everything we wanted to do, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom is spacious, the internet/wifi was fast and it had a good amount of privacy. It had a full kitchen that we didn’t use but it was good to see a proper stove. We loved the deck so much haha and the air conditioner is good for the colder times of the year.

There’s no fan in the bathroom and main bedroom is cold all the time despite having the small heater on a lot but these aren’t negatives, we’re used to the cold since we’re from welly and a fan isn’t a big deal. Still great!
