Finest Retreats - The Lake Gables, Ambleside

Excellent location, responsive hosts, place was spacious and clean.

Extra towels and hair dryer and some basic pantry staples would have been nice. It was slightly difficult to find the place, luckily we found someone on the street who pointed us to the unit but this can be a challenge for someone arriving after dark with no one to ask for directions. Used what3words app as suggested by the host but that wasn't very useful. A map of sorts would help more.

Perfect location being close to all the Ambleside amenities. Spacious and well equipped property.

The property has its own parking space at the back of the property which is great. It did take me a few attempts initially to work out how best to park in the allocated space. The space accommodates 4 cars for 4 different properties and so squeezing into the space for this property was a little tricky when the other spaces are filled. However - if you reverse down, from the road, then it’s perfectly fine to tuck yourself into the allocated space. Also, we booked through Booking.com but the property seems to be managed by Finest Retreats. I emailed them prior to our stay to ask about a late checkout (to allow us to do Parkrun). Finest Retreats replied promptly and said I’d need to confirm during my stay to know for sure if a late checkout would be possible. When I did this, no-one replied. We therefore left at the normal check out time of 10am, with no parkrun ☹️ A minor point against the management company but this is not a reflection on the property itself which was great.
