Welcome to Wern Watkin Bunkhouse, a spacious self-catering bunkhouse on Llangattock Mountain above Crickhowell, set within 21 acres of grounds and woodland with wide views across the Usk Valley and surrounding hills. It is designed for groups who want a comfortable base for walking, cycling, training trips, reunions and outdoor adventures.
Accommodation and layout
The bunkhouse sleeps up to 32 guests across seven bedrooms. It includes two smaller leader rooms and five larger bunk rooms. All but one bedroom is en-suite. The ground floor and the immediate area outside the building are wheelchair accessible, and an access statement is available on request.
Facilities for groups
Wern Watkin Bunkhouse has a high-quality commercial kitchen suitable for catering for large groups, a large dining and seating area, underfloor heating, excellent drying facilities and ample hot water. Outside, the grounds open onto ancient woodland and direct access to the surrounding mountain.
Location
Guests can walk straight onto Llangattock Mountain from the door. The surrounding area offers cliffs, woodland, caves, open hillside and a wide range of routes and viewpoints, with views towards the Sugar Loaf, the central Brecon Beacons and the Usk Valley. The Llangattock cave complex is nearby, and Big Pit and Blaenavon World Heritage Site are a short drive away.
Activities
Wern Watkin Bunkhouse is well placed for walking, cycling and mountain biking, and the area is also popular for caving, climbing, canoeing, abseiling, pony trekking and other outdoor pursuits.
