Beautiful house with everything that one needs. The house was super clean and neat & has stunning views! Professional & timely comms from the host.
The road just below the house is quite busy, so one does hear the traffic going up and down.

What we loved about the property - The property is located within a secure estate, which gave us great peace of mind. We accidentally pressed the panic button during our stay and security responded almost immediately, which was very reassuring. - The house is incredibly spacious, including the bathrooms. We especially appreciated that both bathrooms have showers and windows, which made the space feel bright and airy. - The kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped and had everything we needed. Many accommodation providers overlook basic items such as brooms, mops and essential kitchen tools, particularly when no cleaning service is provided during the stay. This property had all the practical items we needed, which made our stay much more comfortable. Loved that it had a dishwasher as well! - The air conditioning was a great feature and kept the house comfortable regardless of the weather. We also appreciated the thoughtful addition of blankets in the lounge area, with enough for everyone in our group of four. - The highlight of the property is undoubtedly the view. It is absolutely breathtaking. I found myself sitting outside, even in the cold, simply enjoying the scenery. -The property is peaceful, quiet and incredibly relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind. - There is grocery store (Spar) very close by. But you can travel to Velddrift about 20 minutes for other shops like Woolworths & Checkers. So although St Helena is a small town, but it has access to all amenities.
A few things to note - The bed in the main bedroom bed was not as comfortable as we had hoped. - The main bedroom's en-suite bathroom does not have a door separating it from the bedroom. While the open-plan design creates a spacious feel, it does offer very little privacy. If one person needs to use the bathroom during the night, the other person is almost certainly going to be woken up by the noise... and possibly other less glamorous realities of sharing a bathroom space! 😄 - The braai facilities are located indoors. While this is great in colder weather, we did need to keep a window open to allow smoke to escape, which wasn't ideal during winter, and meant we couldn't really use the outdoor space. - There is a storage cabinet in the garage that reduces the available parking space, making it a little difficult to park comfortably. - The house is tiled throughout, which can make it feel quite cold during winter. However, the air conditioning and indoor fireplace/braai area do help offset this. - The property operates completely off-grid and relies on solar power. The battery capacity is generally sufficient, but during periods of heavy cloud cover or rain we found ourselves monitoring usage more closely. There is a generator available as backup, which is helpful. - The oven operates on gas. As we had never used a gas oven before, we were unsure how to operate it and therefore did not use it during our stay. -A little more guidance on some of the property's systems would have been helpful. Instructions for operating the generator, gas oven, garage door remote and other controls would improve the guest experience. We accidentally triggered the panic alarm while trying to figure out which button opened the garage door.
