I stayed at 54Journey Tokyo Otemachi Hostel on May 12, 2025, for a quick one-night solo layover in Tokyo, and it was a mixed bag—great for location but lacking in comfort and cleanliness. As a solo traveler on a tight budget, the hostel's proximity to Otemachi Station (just a 2-minute walk) and Tokyo Station (about 3 minutes) was a lifesaver; I could easily hop on the subway to explore the city or head to Narita Airport. No need for taxis, which kept costs down. The dorm setup was basic—a single bed in a 10-person mixed room—with cute pod-like bunks that offered a bit of privacy via curtains, which I appreciated for some solo downtime. The view from the window overlooking the bustling streets was a nice touch, and the atmosphere was surprisingly quiet at night, making it okay for resting after a long day. Amenities were minimal: shared bathrooms, free Wi-Fi that worked decently, and a common area for chilling, but nothing fancy like a kitchen or lounge events. However, cleanliness was a big letdown—the room had an off smell, and the air conditioning looked moldy, so I kept my mask handy. For value, it was cheap (under $50/night), but the low-end vibe showed in the maintenance issues. Fine for a no-frills solo crash pad if you're just passing through, but I'd look elsewhere for longer stays or more comfort. Tokyo has better budget options!

Very nice location and price. However, very few facilities. Good if you are looking for a cheap option

Location is really good, next to train station. It is way cheaper than other hostels and hotels. However, for this place, don't expect too much regarding the facilities and the services (1 toilet and 1 shower for 15 people, really hard to contact owner for checking in). If you look for the cheapest, it's the option to choose but the comfort could be better

If there was a fire tou would die. The space is ridiculously co fined, crap everywhere. We only received the main door entry pin, we were spuashed waiting for further information on check in with other guests who were having difficulty checking in. It was an absolute sh#t show. We ended up booking elsewhere
