For nature lovers, Bassenthwaite Lake (4 miles) offers spectacular views and is an excellent place for a family picnic by the water, while the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park (4.5 miles) provides the chance to meet local and exotic animals. Head to Keswick (12.5 miles), a bustling town set against the stunning backdrop of Derwentwater. Here, you can take a boat trip on the lake, explore the Keswick Museum, or enjoy the numerous hiking routes. For a change of scene, take a drive to Maryport (11.5 miles), a charming seaside town offering beach walks, local museums, and plenty of family-friendly spots.
