Myeongdong Young Inn Hotel

I was aware that this was a budget inn and adjusted my expectations accordingly. I wasn’t expecting a luxury experience—I simply expected a clean and hygienic room. Unfortunately, my stay was very disappointing. The room was visibly dirty when I arrived. There were hairs on the towels that were clearly not mine, and I even found a used tissue left on the floor. These basic cleanliness issues immediately made me question the overall condition of the room. During my stay, I also developed multiple bites on my arms and face, which made me increasingly uncomfortable and concerned about the cleanliness of the bedding and room. Whether they were mosquito bites or caused by something else, the experience left me feeling uneasy. Because I no longer felt comfortable staying at the property, I decided to book another hotel for the following night at my own expense rather than continue my stay. I understand that accommodations at this price point may not offer the same amenities as a higher-end hotel, but cleanliness should never be compromised. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves its housekeeping standards so future guests do not have a similar experience. It describes what you personally experienced without making claims you can’t verify (for example, it avoids stating that the bites were definitely caused by bed bugs). That style tends to carry more weight with both future guests and hotel management

It was nice

The hotel's location is very convenient and within walking distance of Myeongdong District and Namsan Tower, which was a big plus. However, our overall experience was disappointing due to the cleanliness and service. The room, particularly the bathroom, was not properly maintained and had visible mold. We also requested room cleaning, but when we returned, there was still hair on the floor, making it seem like the room had not been thoroughly cleaned. In addition, there were many large mosquitoes in the room, and we ended up with several mosquito bites during our stay. Customer service was also lacking. When I approached one of the concierge staff with a question, he simply gestured "No, no" without offering any explanation or assistance. The only staff member who provided good service was the person who assisted us during check-in. While the location is excellent, I would not personally recommend this hotel based on cleanliness and customer service. However, if proximity to Myeongdong is your main priority and you are not too concerned about these issues, it may still be a suitable option.

The hotel offers self check-in through a kiosk, and there are no staff physically available at the front desk. However, you can easily contact them via the tablet provided at the reception if you need assistance. Our room was spacious, and the bathroom was also quite large. I especially liked having a balcony. Another nice touch was that guests could freely get extra towels, bottled water, and other essentials from the cabinet near the front desk. They also provide a microwave for guests to use, which was very convenient. On the downside, the bathroom didn’t have a bidet and had a noticeable unpleasant smell. The balcony also wasn’t very clean during our stay. The neighborhood was quiet, which we appreciated. There are two cafés nearby, but convenience stores are a bit of a walk away. The hotel is also located uphill, so keep that in mind if you’re commuting by subway or bus, especially if you’re carrying heavy luggage. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the nearest station, and the uphill climb can be tiring. Overall, we still enjoyed our stay. The hotel has great potential—it just needs a few updates and some renovations throughout the property. 😊
